Abby is doubled fanged! Her new canine incizors are in yet her old ones are still intact directly behind the new ones. I think the old fangs are the last puppy teeth left but they are right there behind the new fangs (and longer than the new ones). The new ones seem to be fully in and are sharing a spot with the old ones. Any ideas? Dont tell me I need another trip to the vet to get these extracted!
My Sheba was like that for a couple of weeks. I checked her mouth almost everyday and looked for signs of redness etc. They finally fell out within the past few days! She looked so strange with 4 fangs! I wanted to take a picture but never did. That would be a good picture to post for others that have this concern. Sheba had no problems and I also read somewhere that this sometimes happens. If you feel uncomfortable, give your vet a call!
Fenway had one baby tooth that just wouldn't come out on its own.....so the vet pulled it when they neutered him. I would just watch it for a little bit, make sure it isn't causing her discomfort....and if they don't fall out in the next week or so, I would take her to the vet.
Same with Duncan. We were at the vet yesterday for booster shots and i showed him the double fang. Vet said it wasn't even loose which wasn't a good sign since I've noticed it now already for a few weeks. I need to keep an eye on it and at next visit if it isn't loose we'll have to pull it. Not looking forward to that because they have to put him under:( But it can cause tarter and food gets trapped so it really shouldn't stay.
When Charlie was getting spayed, Dr. Sweeny said that those puppy fangs need to be removed because it traps food in between them... She had one still in there while the adult fang was already in, so she got that removed while she was under.....
Well I hope that they will loosen up in the next 2 weeks or so. I will keep watch. Just cross your fingers for Abby because you have heard my complaints of our exhorbetant priced "Doc Hollywood" here. He will probably charge me a grand for pulling those fangs. I swear his clients have bought him a house just since March when he rode into town. I miss the old vet!
