Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I dont think the two are connected but I figured while I was posting . . . Ollie is 10 weeks old. He seems to always have eye boogers - I am constantly picking at him which he hates but I can't seem to stop myself! Last night I trimmed the hair beneath his eyes and am hoping that will help some. Is eye goop normal for doodles or do I need to ask the vet (we have appt tomorrow a.m. anyway)

He has thrown up twice today. He got into our older dog's food (not much how much - I wasnt home - my dh told me about it). The first time he threw up outside with me and it looked just like slightly soggy food. The second time was in his sleep while he was in his crate and my babysitter cleaned it up and called me at work to tell me. His poop has been really runny again the last couple of days. We have given him some pumpkin. You may remember that when we first got him - we had to wait a couple of days because he was being treated for diarhhea. Am guessing he needs more treatment.

Thoughts? Thanks

Some regular eye goop is normal for dogs. If you take him in to have his stool checked out...ask the vet if he thinks there is anything unusual about his eye goop.
My breeder and vet said the eye goop is normal for Doodles. They told me to clean it every morning with a gauze pad that has been wet with warm water.
My doodle had way more eye goop than I was used to in my dogs, but I've never had curly hair dogs before, and the vet said it was normal when I first asked about it. I think I looked a little dismayed b/c she chuckled.
I bet the new food upset his stomach especially if he inhaled it....definitely get the stool sample tomorrow...better safe than sorry!
Peri also have eye boogers and I try to carefully remove them. Watch your nails!
thanks all. hate to ask - but how do I collect a stool sample - just scoop it up when he goes? and put it in what? how much do I need and how long can it sit before it goes to the vet?
I put the "sample" in a poop bag, then in a plastic grocery bag so it's a bit more presentable. :-) But I've seen people bring in samples in clear sandwich baggies, so I don't think it matters!
I've always stopped by the vet to pick up sample jar (like a urine cup). I usually glove my hand and pick up the poop and plop it in or use a disposable plastic spoon and put it in a ziplock. But a poop bag should be fine too.
I use small ziplock bags for stool sample.
Ned had more eye goop as a puppy. Now he gets a bit of hard crusty stuff. He gets more depending upon how much dirt he "eats" - how much dust he has run in. The smaller they are the closer they are to the dirt kicked up when they play.
Apple Cider Vinager has been great in decreasing our doodles eye goop. 1/2 tsp in his food, once a day. He is now 6 months old and we haven't had to pick out dried eye goop for at least 6 weeks now.
eye goop is pretty common for doodles...but "runny eyes" is a sign of upper respiratory infection........There is a strain of Bordetella going around that isn't exclusive to dogs that are kept in kennels...It is easily contracted by dogs that visit dog parks, is resistent to the vaccine and doesn't necessarily include the cough as a symptom....if he has a runny nose and runny eyes along with the diarrhea I would take him to the vet....
Bear has bright green eye goop that I have to remove every day. I thought maybe it was allergies. What color is eye goop?
