Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay this is totally off topic, but... Why is it so alluring to type into this darn website? I did not grow up in the computer era. My first contact with a computer was sending my program on cards with holes punched on them in a baseball card type box on the snack truck three hours away to another university that had a computer - that had it's own air conditioned building. Yet, hear I am, 12:44 at night, reading and typing away on this darn thing. I have real ( as opposed to virtual?) friends, am pretty busy, on a schoolboard and a do lot of volunteer stuff. For Pete's sake, why do we do this? SmileyCentral.com

I think it's because we love our Doodles so much, we can identify with each other. You just can't have these conversations with anyone who isn't a "Doodle Nut". They think you're crazy, or at the very least obsessed.
My dogs come first...I do it for my dogs...and TRUE friends on here who are worth it....great points also jane...
And don't forget about the ODD.
I think it's because there are people who love their dogs and then there are people like all of us who LOVE their dogs. Here you can ask a question, post a picture, tell a story about something your Doodle did and everyone "gets it". That in my humble opinion is why we are here at strange hours of the day & night reading, responding and posting.
Yes I often wonder the same thing. I think as opposed to RL friends who dont want to hear us drone on about our dogs without suggesting we be committed - you all get it. We are in the same boat! And something about having a doodle...makes us all special.
I realize that I am on this site waaaaayyyyy tooooo much = I tell myself that I can quit at any time. Yea, right, who am I fooling? I am always telling people, "I learned...... on my doodlekisses website." My husband has told me that I probably could visit anywhere and find a doodle friend to meet up with. Yup, that is so right. I am on VACATION and I am on the computer. What is with that. Goodbye all - gotta walk Ned.
I agree with all of these posts we have such wonderful, loveable dogs that other humans would think we are too crazy for our dogs, my dad in fact thinks I am a little too nuts about Wilson, but take a look at him he is adoreable ( I am not to modest am I???) I love being off in the summer so I can visit this site more often. In fact anyone I meet on the street that asks me about Wilson I tell them about our great website. We have the best dogs !!!
Take all the responses and add them up. They equal love and passion about our Doodles. Doodles bring such joy to our hearts and it is a wonderful way to 'show them off' and their silly antics but most important is it about a friendship - someone who understands, no one to judge you, you can get the info we really need to keep our doodles happy, healthy and a wonderful family member. We all have that common bond. Doodles are unlike another dog I have met - not that the others aren't wonderful but there truly is something very special about doodles.
I would have never attempted to foster if I didn't know that I have very special people to help guide me. I would not have brought Mickey out of the shelter and into our homes without that support and love that I get here in DK and DRCC.
Thank you all!!
Because the people on here are the only ones who understand ODD (obsessive doodle disorder)! As for me, I just love talking about my pups and lots of other topics with my friends on here. And I love hearing about their adventures! I have real life friends, but it's so much fun to "meet" other people from all over who are as crazy for their pups as I am. John Waters the movie producer said that he doesn't like animals, he only likes people, and that people who do like animals do not like people. He thinks you can't like both. He should get on DK, because we're proof that he's dead wrong! I am really grateful for this site, because otherwise I wouldn't know so many of you!
I agree with all that was said and "Hi, my name is Linda and I have ODD"
Thanks - I feel much better - You are all right - none of the regular friends, even my dog friends, have ODD. Linda, I love your line I am going to use it too when I get "those" looks if I obsess in front of my non ODD friends. This is a place where I fit in with ODD, and it even has a name. Thanks again to all of you Maryann
