Skin coloring has changed!!

My eight month old doodle has changed from pink skin to black skin. Her coat is white...this seems very strange. Has anyone else experienced this? Did i do something to cause this...when she is wet she looks muddy!!!

Her skin has tanned in the summer sun. This is a very desirable trait in poodles. Congratulations on having a doodle with such excellent pigment.

Was the sire a black poodle? Spud's mom was a goldendoodle and dad a black poodle.

As a baby his tummy was pink. Then black splotches began to appear and progressively got darker. I thought as first he was getting dirty in the belly area.

He is now getting black spots under his tongue. When his testicles descended they were also pink. Suddenly at 6 months, and for two more weeks, he is packing the biggest BLACK danglers I have ever seen. Looks real bad--this all white dog, and big black things hanging from his coat, almost as if he has mulch stuck to his fur or he is parti-colored in one area. :)

A lot of puppies have pink skin and it will darken as they get older. It probably just happens to be a lot more noticeable on your white dog. My gold pups do this too as do the gray ones. Its all normal!

My 5 month old doodle (aussiedoodle) has seemingly random skin coloration (black and pink blotches) which has changed over time. Asked the vet and he said it was totally normal!

Not a doodle, but my sister's white chihuahua is starting to get black patches on his skin that shows through his coat. Vet said it was normal! Please poste photos of your girl's coat change.

I think most dogs skin will change as they mature. If your dogs skin stayed pink..that is a sign of being an albino.
There are in fact three different classes of white dogs: there are dogs with white fur, but dark skin, like poodles, or dogs like the english bull terrier, that in their white form are extreme forms of piebaldism, where they often have very small patches of color, dark eyes and a black nose, then there is the albino, which is completely white with pale eyes and nose. Her dark skin is probably coming from the Poodle in her.

Maybe this happens in doodles with black noses but both my rose nosed doodles still have pinkish skin at 6 and 16 months.

I think that is correct. The standard for poodles IS black noses so that even white poodles have dark skin. I think it is a 'fault' for any colored poodle to have the liver or rose pigment and light skin. Though I LOVE the liver nosed poodles and doods!
