My daughter said she saw on Animal Planet AND in one of her many dog books, that putting clothes on dogs humiliates them, I have never done it, and don't know the truth, you weigh in!
I dont know about clothes....but I know baths totally humiliate my dogs. Completely robs them of their dignity. They have a look on their faces like I am tarring and feathering them rather than shampooing them. LOL
I haven't tried with Neely although a ccool hockey jersey might find its way under the tree this year (shhhh) But I remember some people saying it seemed as though their doods were humiliated when first shaved.
Check out the Saint Bernard in the "why dogs bite discussion". She looks like she loves wearing her hat and nail polish - she could be the next top dog model on the runway.
I think some dogs like it and others not so much. Depends on the dog. But it's more about being fussed with than anything else. Just like some dogs like baths and some not so much. I sincerely doubt that dogs can experience humiliation. To be humiliated you have to have a fairly complicated vision of yourself that includes some pride, selfconciousness, uncertainty, etc. Most dogs are very okay with who they are and their concept of who they are is pretty straight forward. It's why we love them so much. They love themselves and everyone else unconditionally (especially doodles). Your dog cares not at all what you wear when you go for a walk, and if you are fashionably dressed in your birthday suit, you may be humiliated, but your dog won't be!
