With 3 dogs bath day is an event at our house. The beagles seem to be able to sense when bath day arrives and try to take up permanent residence under our bed. Harlow is too big to fit under the bed, but doesn’t mean she doesn’t try. Anyway we usually end up in the shower using the handheld shower head. This means I get completely soaked when bathing everyone so I am generally in an old bathing suit. We also have one of those sink adaptor thingies that we attach to our bath tub spout. That way I can sit on the side of our tub to bath the dogs. But this means I can only do 1 dog at a time as the other 2 will jump out of the tub and proceed to sling water all over the bathroom.
Spud is NO Problem. He gets bathed in the bathroom tub and has no problems . The problem, how to keep him OUT OF THE SHOWER when we are taking our own showers.
Pete, my old mastiff/lab was just to big to be bathed anywhere. It was a day long event to do this big old dog, so I took him the the car wash. First, as I brushed him, I put quarters in the vacuum to suck up all that shedding hair. He absolutely loved sweepers. He would stand there for hours--to bad it would cost a fortune to sweep him all day. I wish all animals loved sweepers. Next I put a special attachment on the end of the hose to keep the pressure down and gave him a bath in the car stall. It always attracted a staring crowd.
Lucy gets bathed in our tub. Some people think that is gross, but hey, what's the difference. I do have to strip down to my undies as I get dripping wet sitting on the side of the tub. The whole time I am scrubbing her she is laying her head on my chest and leaning on me. I have to treat her to get her in the bathroom. All I have to do is say the word bath, and she runs and hides. She does well getting it once I can get her into the tub. I also have a hand held shower thingy, but it is not long enough and i am going to get my DH to rig up an ordinary water hose to the shower connection. Winny's dad has a neat contraption that he came up with and that is what I'm going to show DH and see if he will do that for me. I also would never be able to do more than 1 dog/day.
I just washed my two doggies today--what a coincedence! I wash them about every 4-6 weeks. I am lucky in that I have a big shower that has just a four inch lip in the front. I can easily get them in and kneel and wash them with a handheld shower head. Mattie stands like a statue,...she is so cooperative when washing or grooming...but Lyric pushes against me the whole time, so I get pretty wet...that's why I do them both on the same day--I'm wet already!
Today was a dry and windy day, so they ran around outside and were dry in no time. Now, they are all sweet-smelling and fluffy and sound asleep!
You may all hate me :) , but Jordan loves a nice warm shower! The hard part is keeping her standing because she would be completely happy to lay under the water all day. I do bath her in my underwear. Only because I've gotten in the habit from Payton who was like Adina's Cass.He hated baths, and would spray me, jump out, I would have to drag into the bathroom.
Get the tub! Costco $129. got it for Gus and it's wonderful! My daughter baths her dogs every time she comes for the weekend, friends have also brought their dogs over for a bath. It's already paid for itself. Hmmm maybe I should start charging LOL! I also stay dry during bath time.
That is the tub I want! Did it come with the spray nozzle for the water to hook to an indoor faucet or do you use a hose? Costco's price is the cheapest I have seen since it also includeds the shipping/handling.
Adianne,
It comes with a spray nozzle that hooks to a hose then I bought a $3.00 hose adapter for my kitchen faucet that I switch out when I bath him. When I move it to the garage this winter I'm going to add more drain hose to it 5 feet just isn't enough to reach out the side door. Now I run the hose out my garden window. It is so wonderful, my Chessie weighs 125 and he fits in it too. I bought a bar-b-que cover for it,makes it more attractive sitting on the patio.
Just love the visual - DM in their undies bathing their Doodles!! Now that is love!!
When I designed my kitchen 5+ years ago, there was not ONE dog in my dreams much less 2. I got a sink that is 1 large bowl, not a split sink. Samantha just fits in it. I wind up with water all over the counters and the floor even before she gets out. So Samantha gets clean and so does the kitchen. 2 for 1 deal!

We have a walk in shower with detachable head. We have a bench on the one side I can sit on and suds them up and then i rinse them ... I do one at a time. They aren't too bad about it and don't hate it too much.
I do also use the hose outside to rinse them off sometimes. This way the dirt is mostly outside and i just dry them a little and throw the comforter on the floor for them to roll in.
I too have given up on clean floors. They drag in so much dirt and mulch in their hair it's not even funny!!!
When Murphy was a smaller puppy, 2-5 months old, we bathed him in our shower in the RV. Then for the 4 months this summer we were in fla we just used the hose outside. Florida water is almost lukewarm coming out of the hose. We have a nice shower spray nozzle and we don;t worry about what gets wet, he can shake to his hearts content and then run around and dry off some.
On way to Arizona as i write this, back in the RV. Probably won;t fit in the shower anymore!!! 9 months old, >50 pds and 22 inches tall.
