Vinny Lacavier hockey player! Wanted to name his St. Louis and my 4 year old said, "but mom...Vinny is a better player!"
Peri is registered as "Sullivan's Lady Peruna". Peruna is the mascot from our college - Peruna the Pony from SMU in Dallas. DH and I always said we would name our next dog that...Perry if it were a boy.
We put a "Name that Doodle" Contest out to our friends and family via email/texts and got tons of names, but Murphy kept popping up and seemed to flow well with our last name....Menegay. So we narrowed it down to about 5 and it was up to me in the end. Then found out that several of Murphy's brothers were also named the same. One lives right down the street from us!!!
I had a thing for alliteration at the time, so I have a Lizzie Louise Lehner. No idea where it came from, I just liked it and it fits!
Leo is named after the tiger in the children's picture book "Leo the Late Bloomer".
My husband and I are "into" our Irish heritage... so when we found out our pick up date for Darby would be the 5th of July... Darby it was... Darby in gaelic means liberty.
My hubby wanted a "smart" sounding name so our long list was narrowed to Mozart, Einstein, Newton or Webster. My 9 yr old liked Webster because of Webster's Dictionary. I agreed because I remembered the 80s? sitcom "Webster" and it seemd a fitting name for our chocolate goldendoodle.
My sister's black goldendoodle is named Charleston, called Charlie. My parent's blond goldendoodle is Lindy. They are both into swing dancing and the Charleston and Lindy-hop are dances :-)

FWIW - I think you all have some awesome names! I looked at the doggy name lists on the web and most of them are common and predictable. You all are creative and clever - bravo!
Our Labradoodle got the name, Pepsi, because his mother's name was Soda. The name suits him to a T!
I am so enjoying reading about the doodle's names and how they were chosen.
Me too!!
Lilo is named after my son's favorite Disney character at that time, and since we didn't want a Stitch in the family, we named Rocky after Rocky Balboa to reflect his true fighter mentality.
I've just discovered this discussion - bit late but I thought I'd put my bit in...

Ollie is named after the Beijing Olympics. The first time we saw him the Olympics were on and it seemed like the perfect name!
I really liked the name Hobbes (as in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip) but the kids (who had no idea what I was talking about) outvoted me....
