Always wondered why Murphy greets us and then quickly runs to grab a toy to bring to whomever he is meeting at the door. Anyone else's doodle do that? Ever figure out why? Besides the obvious of wanting to play, is there some dog philosophy to sharing thier toys?

Ellen, I wasn't able to find the photo again, can you email it to me?
I am having trouble trying attach it to this message......if you go to our page by clicking on Beau's photo above, and scroll down to "photos", you can find the photo on either the third or fourth page of his photos. Oh! I think they did attach! I wasn;t sure which of these two you wanted, so I sent both.

Ellen, thank you so much, it was the second one! Made me smile all over again. I saved it and will attach to my website on Meetup.com. Check in soon and see him!!!
Gracie does this as well, but it can be lethal. She has always been so excitable upon greeting anyone that origionally we thought she picked up the toy to occupy her mouth so that she was not corrected for mouthing or biting. Now though she is even more lethal with the toy. She gets so excited that she begins pawing at you, which between her strength, claws and my mom's 85 year old skin. It's a real danger....
Yes, the pawing on the elderly can be very rough. I've gotten where I ignore Murphy until all four are on the floor and that has stopped the jumping and pawing considerably. He still will jump on hubby, but he allows it. Murphy does understand the difference tho, so maybe you can teach him to not put paws on your mom. Still, the toy thing is cute.
Zeke & Lily do this too! Mostly when someone first comes home they are greeted by the doodles with something in their mouths but Lily has been known to drop a nylabone halfway through her walk in the neighborhood. Nobody knew she had it!
HAHA! Stores it in her mouth like a squirell storing nuts, huh? Funny
No. Ozzie usually brings you his pooh bear or his bear when he knows you don't feel good or are sad. My husband is sick quite a bit with diabetes complications.
AWWWW. He wants to make you feel better with his beloved pooh bear. How sweet is that!
Ozzy always runs and brings me a rope....if I fall asleep on the couch I wake up with all of his ropes on me....I think it is the cutest thing.
I wonder if they just want to play or are they sharing thier treasures with us? Seems to me if you use the " What's in it for me" dog-mentality, it's to play.....What's your take on it? just curious.
