I started a doodle romp discussion a few weeks ago about having one in the NY/CT/MA area and got NO RESPONSES! Oh well! I will have to go about this a different way--I guess there aren't many members of doodlekisses in my area.
Hey Ginny...did you also send a message with a link to your post to the NY groups, East Coast groups, etc? I know there are folks in those states...but you may need to contact the groups they are in to really hone in on them. Or use the Advanced Search feature on the members page to search for folks in certain cities or states.
Good idea! I also emailed my breeder and she is willing to get in touch with the owners of her pups in the Spring to get them all together--what a photo-op!
Hi Ginny. We're actually in Farmington, CT which is just outside of Hartford. We would love to be part of a Doodle romp. The problem is that Guinness gets carsick on trips over 30 - 45 minutes. This is just a little too far for us to travel with him right now. I'm hoping by Spring he will have outgrown this, and we would be able to make it then. It's just not worth putting him through it...he really feels pretty miserable after he has gotten sick. I do appreciate your trying to put this together.
Hi Ginny,
I noticed your discussion before but I'm guessing the area you're in is about 4 hrs from me (Burlington, VT). Would love to go to a romp and would travel a distance if you get enough interest. Actually we have family in Albany. Is that far from you? Could we appeal to doodle people from that area?
I am about one hour south of Bennington, which is quite far from Burlington..Albany is 45 min. northwest of us and the romp location is 20 min from me in the other direction. So, we are looking at about an hour. I am putting the discussion in New York doodles group now and getting some responses!
When I began planning our last romp, I went to the Members page, and sorted for the appropriate states. Then I sent individual messeges to anyone I thought may be geographically close enough to be interested. It took awhile to go through the state list but I just pasted the messege to each person;s page. I got some hits from it. But most of the romp interest I got was by being a "Doodle Stalker".. For months before the romp, I had some flyers printed and in my pocket all the time. In every park or public dog friendly place I visited, I hunted down the doods and passed a flyer along. We had our romp yesterday with about 40 dogs! It was great fun.....I also put up flyers on bulliten boards at feed and pet stores, vet offices and doggie daycares! Pick a day a few months off and just start! And all these people will probably tell more people by the next romp! Better luck! Keep at it. I also put DK flyers in goodie bags for each participant, so I'm expecting an influx of new DK members from this area!
