Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Last year a small group of us formed a group in order to exchange Christmas/Holiday cards for the season. I wanted to open it up for others to do the same thing so I have created 3 TWO new private groups just for this purpose.

WHY a Christmas/Holiday card exhange? Cuz it's FUN! As the days of Christmas draw closer and closer it's a blast to get a mailbox full of doodle cards almost daily! Here's what my wall looked like last year full of cards from doodle friends:

(anyone else who wants to post pics here is welcome to show off the fun from last year!)

Now, why a private group? Well, because DK as a whole is a public site where anybody can see in (unless you've marked YOUR page or blog or photos as private), we need a private group to protect everyone's private mailing addresses. So please don't exchange addresses in public unless you don't care who knows where you live. Also because we have 5,000+ members we need to contain the groups to a limited number so nobody has to spend $500 paying for postage =)

How does it work?
You request membership to the group (listed below) and once you are in, you'll soon get a chance to share your mailing address with everyone else in the group. Once the group is full or there joining deadline is reached...EVERYONE in the group is to send EVERYONE ELSE in the group a Christmas (or Hannukah or Holiday) card that includes a photo of their doodle or them and their doodle. That means you do have to send every member of that group a card and in return you'll get a card from every member of that group in return! Fun =)

Each group is private and membership is limited to 50 members. You may request membership to either of the two groups until they are full or the joining deadline has arrived. If you join and stay in any of the card exchange groups, then that means you are willing to exchange cards with all of the members of those groups. Otherwise, if you do NOT wish to do so, please leave the group as it is only fair to have addresses of those you will actually send cards to.

Here are the TWO groups, you may join any one you wish.

http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/XMASGroupB--group B is now full

Group B is closed as it has reached 50 members. Group A has a more room for members. There's no difference between the two other than different folks in each group. If you feel comfortable sharing your mailing address with others for a fun activity...do join one of these two groups as it IS a lot of fun to open your mailbox and find dozens of doodle cards.

AND you don't have to celebrate Hannukah or Christmas specifically...you can consider it a "Holiday" Card exchange if that is your preference.

Oh, we would love to be included in the Christmas card exchange!!! Last year, we were part of the one on The Doodle Zoo. It was so much fun going to the mailbox every day and checking to see if any cards arrived. The card exchange was the highlight of our holiday season!! Just looking at them made your heart feel happy!!! Can't wait!!!! Kathy (Ellie & Oliver)
I was part of the Zoo's exchange the past two years =) So you probably got our card last year and we probably got yours!
Did anyone have a neat website that they ordered their doodle cards from last year?? If I join I think I might get some made at Walmart with our dog's on them.
I've heard people like Shutterfly.com -- I always just made mine on the computer and then got them printed as photos at Wal Mart. You could use the sites that Penny (Comiskey & Beemer) always use to make their collages--save them as photos and print them off at Wal Mart! I like the Wal Mart option myself because I know I can get it done in 1 hour vs. waiting for the mail.
Thanks sounds fun=)
So you make one and turn it into a .jpg file on your computer and just make 4x6 prints from walmart.com? I've never done Christmas cards before, but I'm excited about it this year! Just trying to figure out the best way.
That's what I do. I don't remember the file size that is required (dimensions, etc) but I am thinking (guessing) that if the dimensions are just multiples of 4x6 (such as 8 x 12 or 16 x 36 or whatever) it would all come out the same. You could always try one and just print out ONE photo and see how it looks printed. Or get those cards with a slot for a photo and slip in a photo that way.

This was ours from last year:

And this is the card I made for Rosco to give away to his kids from Juvie

last year I just took my cameras SD Disk to Krogers (local grocery) to their photo counter, do it yourself machine and there was an option for Xmas cards. You just select the design you want, add your photo, add your words, selecting font etc., and then send to the printer. They are printed while you wait. With the envelope they were less than 20 cents a piece. I can't even buy cards for that!
Sounds easy!!
I’m so excited to do this again! It was a blast last year. :D
Just 25 more days till the deadline for joining for most groups! I believe most groups are closing sign-ups by December 1st in order to allow everyone time to send out their cards/order cards/make cards for all in their group. Sign up soon for group A, B, C or the Canadian group!!!
Ordered my cards from Walmart. Easy and just about the least expensive I've found. They will be arriving at my home on the 11th. No shipping charge either. Very excited to do this again this year.
