Naming a New Puppy

Have you found a name for your soon-to-be-home Doodle? If not, how are you going about choosing one?

Hi Patty! We are bringing home our little guy (Comfort Retriever from Doodle Quest in KY) around Dec 3 and have named him Aureus (golden). We will call him Aure (OR-ee) for short. We had a list of names for weeks that we "kind-of" liked but when we saw this name we knew it was the one.

Its always interesting for me to pick my dog's names. Now that I don't have any kids at home it has become something I get to do alone, which has its merits! I already have a F1 whose name is Luah so I need to stay far away from names that sound like that... I just saw someone's list and it had Priya on it and even though I really liked it, I think it sounds too much like Luah on the end... So far the top name on my list is Sydney... Syd for short. I also like Lilly, Siena, and Tia. We'll just have to see what she's like. I go up to the breeder's this Friday to see the litter at 6 weeks. I have first pick of the 4 females so I am really looking forward to seeing them at 6 weeks. I saw them at 4 weeks but there really isn't much to see at that age other than cute little balls of brown fur! Good luck to all of you getting new pups! Its exciting isn't it?

Good luck Julie, your babe must be approx the same age as my Teddi, she was just 6 wks on the 19th of November. Good luck with your selection and many happy days ahead. I have 13 more sleeps until I travel to Ontario to meet my babe, then have a week bonding before returning west to introduce her to the family. : )

What a great name, glad you put th OR-ee in so I could pronounce it. I've never heard it before, and your babe is very handsome. All the best, how exciting too. I know I can't wait.
