Patti,
Mater was on very large doses of prednisone, but I don't remember any other medications. He was a total food monster from the medication, and a little crazy. They say pred makes people crazy too. I know 40 years ago when I lost my cocker spaniel, the vet said all they can treat it with is huge doses of steroids and it will kill or cure. I hope your baby gets better. Mater's blood count improved within a week, but the doctors were a little surprised by such a rapid recovery. He stayed on the medication for several months.
I just remembered that they did start him on Atopica (cyclosporine) right away as well and he will need to remain on that all his life.
I hope your doodle can pull through. It's so hard to lose these guys!
Thanks for friending me. My Roo was diagnosed with congestive heart failure just before Christmas, so I know just how your heart feels. Enjoy the time you have, it may be more than you think. Roo is still doing well at 6 months after diagnosis - knock on wood.
