This is not worth a blog, but it's not really a discussion starter either - just an interesting "show and tell". Looks like Sedona (or her twin) has been moonlighting as a catalog model:…Continue

For years, Jack London’s Call of the Wild was one of my district’s required novels at the seventh grade level. So for years, the story was an important part of the curriculum in my seventh grade language arts class (special education – we read an abridged/adapted version). I know the story well, but in case you don’t, here’s what I need you to know about the plot in order for my blog to make sense:…

... it's pretty dang terrific! Awhile back, I donated to the Doodle Rescue Collective - they are the wonderful folks who do so much to make sure that abandoned (often sick and/or abused) doodles find perfect forever homes. DRC was having a drawing, and even though "I never win anything", I actually won!!! And what a fabulous collection of goodies - perfect for a doodle and her "mommy". Leashes, a clicker, poop bags, a treat tote, pet bowl cleaner, picture frame, dog blanket, DRC mouse…

Next month I’ll be turning 59 – my that sounds OLD! More importantly, my 59th birthday will mark the 20th anniversary of my thyroid surgery. The week before my birthday, AT MY ROUTINE OB / GYN VISIT, my doctor found a thyroid lump. Even though he assured me that most thyroid lumps are benign, he sent me to a surgeon for a biopsy. The results came back “inconclusive”, so we decided to do the prudent thing and remove it. Thank God we did as the post-operative…

Yesterday was a "Kayla Day" - Oma and Grumpa babysit 15-month-old Kayla. Mid-morning, she asked to watch a "vee-oh" so we put on "Things That Go Counting", a baby genius video. Sedona, our Doodle Genius, was especially interested in "Number 2 - Dogs":…

Cori is outstanding! What a beautiful dog.
Thank you for the friend request. Desi & Cori are so cute. I saw in your bio that you lost your precious Sedona - which is just so heartbreaking. I am sorry for your loss. We had a standard poodle that got an autoimmune disease (IMHA) at 6.5 years old and he did not respond to treatment. He crossed the Rainbow bridge in 2010. I was beyond heartbroken and started researching non-shedding breeds on line, I ran into a breeder in Washington state that raised Australian labradoodles. I called the breeder to talk about the breed in general and she mentioned they had a litter of chocolates that were born on Dec 18th! That was the day we lost our sweet boy Wilbur. My husband was against getting a puppy so soon, but I could hardly function without a dog in our life. I felt it was an omen and long story short - Charlie Brown came home on Valentines Day 2011. He is definitely my heart dog. When he was almost 2, our breeder bred Charlie's dad to a different female and the puppies were parti (chocolate & cream). Beau just turned 5 and now I have two heart dogs - do not know what I would do without either of them. Will be watching for your posts on DK. If you ever get up to wine country in Washington - we live in Richland, email me and we will get together.
Deanna, what breeder did you go to for Desi and Cori? I am always being asked for California breeders.
Thank you Deanna for the breeder information. I will definitely check it out.
We have a lot in common. I also was an educator for 25 years and love Spec. Ed. I worked in Brasil as a Peace Corp volunteer in Spec. Ed. Here I taught all grades from Kg. - 6th and short assignments of higher than 6th. My favorite is 5/6 grades. I also have dealt with the death of a precious labradoodle (Hondo) but have moved beyond that and have several doodles in my life now.
We also are basically neighbors. I live in Prunedale, just down the road from you. Take a look at my blog for the Poodle Days in Carmel from last weekend. It is a very special activity for us.
Deanna, I am so sorry that you lost your precious Sedona. I had no idea but came here to check when I saw the question marks next to your name. So terribly sad and we share in your sadness.
Since I've just saw it on here publicly for the first time I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about Sedona. I heard it from someone but was asked to keep it quiet as I think it had just happened shortly before they told me. I have been thinking of you as I know that pain all too well. My wish for you is that one day you will be able to see past the pain to all of the wonderful memories you have. Hugs
Thank you Deanna for Libby's Birthday wishes. She was very spoiled today, but that's ok:)
How fun and I'm sure your grandson will win your heart over! Love to see pictures:)
