Profile Information

About Me:
We live in Marin County, a family of four with two lovely girls ages 8 and 10, in the shadow of Mt. Tam. I've grown up with labradors and lost our recent one four years ago to cancer. We're a dog loving family, we enjoy being outside and playing around the house too.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We adopted a re-homed five year old mult-gen labradoodle named Chennie. She's a wonderful medium chocolate doodle who's smart, and thinks she's a lap dog! Thanks to IDOG we were able to become her new forever family.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rescue
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I've always loved labradors but the shedding became a big problem and I like that poodles are smart so the characteristics of the two breeds just make a wonderful combination. I'm also happy that our Chennie is a medium sized dog.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
I love to go on walks with Chennie in our neighborhood and take her just about everywhere. I love that she's such an even-tempered loving dog who gets along with other dogs, kids and people so well and sticks to me like glue.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
So far our local groomer, but we're going to be doing more ourselves.

Hi Erin, I am not posting so much these days...too busy! But I am happy beyond words that Chennie is working out for you. At last she has the home that she deserves. She is such a sweet girl. All she needed were some boundaries in her life. Thanks so much for being such a good doodle Mom!

Welcome to "Ring Around the Collar"! I hope we can have a sharing of minds (and paws)! And discuss form and function of all things related to collars, training-collars, leashes, leads, harnesses & tethers! Join me as we learn together how to be Doodle collar savvy. And I'm sure there are a few "Doodle Bling" owners who are just itching to share, oh come on, you know who you are, you dog charm purchasers! Share pictures, the more the merrier! Sincerely, Nancy S.

Well, he made until right before his bedtime without excavating his water. But boy did he do a number on it- and with such utter glee! I realized today that he's a very jealous little guy who needs to be the center of attention. If I pay attention to either of our other dogs, he gets obnoxious, and if Tai Chi (our Shih Tzu) pays attention to our Peke, he gets jealous. Typical male thinking the world revolves around him! :-))

Thanks Erin. Don't be deceived. Yesterday he acted like a water-dish-digging terrorist. Today is a new day and so far so good. I suspect he's plotting his next assault! He did get in the mud today and had to have a bath, but after yesterday that was minor!

I am so thrilled to hear that things are working out so well for all of you! It just warms my heart. Babies and dogs make us look at things through different eyes, don't they? Remember when we crawled on the floor looking for the danger zones at the same level as the babies???? LOL - same thing for our dogs but just looking for different 'dangers'.

I am so happy for you! My Queen has never tried to counter surf. TG!!. She does know now at 16 months old, that if lays in the LR, which is right off the kitchen and she can still see us, she will get some of our dinner. If she doesn't, she is put in the LR by us and she gets nothing, consistency worked. Hard for me but it worked.

Hi Erin,
When we were in Puppy Kindergarten our trainer told us ot take our pups out and about for socialization. Went walked through our little town and sat at the bus stop and the train station and every time they came by she got trats. I also did it with workmen in different types of uniforms - police, fire, utiity, etc. I gave them her treats and aksed them to talk to her and pet her and give her treats. Have you tried that with Chennie. Maybe that would work for her and her shyness with men. Men + treats = happy Doodle. Glad to hear that it is working out for all of you. What did you mean by 'too comfortable'??
