Hi Katie - I was going to give you the same advice as Ro. There are several adorable doodles available in the Midwest that would love a home with another doodle. Read their adoption guidelines and submit an application if you're interested. I hope you and your husband are not too depressed as a result of the Orange Bowl. I am also an Ohio State graduate and a crazy Buckeye! I can't believe you both were in the marching band - if I ever won one of those contests where you get to make a dream come true, I would want to dot the "i"! Good luck in your search and keep us posted! Go Bucks!
First step is to submit an adoption application to DRC, even if there is not currently an available dog that you think might be a good match. PetFinder has major problems since they were sold to Purina, and all the DRC dogs are not listed. There are often available doodles in your part of the country. Experienced doodle owners are preferred adopters!
Hi,
In NE Ohio, try Changing Hearts Rescue.

Note:No I dont know anything about this rescue. I just see a lot of doodles with them.
They seem to have a lot of doodles and my hunch is that an area breeder < no names> gives her 'extra' dogs to this rescue. You get to a point where you recognize a breeder's dogs.
There were many listed before Christmas. Those dogs are gone <The Parti-colored girls>
But they have three more listed now.

I haven't read anything yet from other posts but I would say from experience, DRC is a wonderful organization and you can find their adoptable "doods" at the bottom of the main page of DK. We adopted our Buzz through DRC! So fun with two!
Good luck finding a doodle companion for Mr. Bodhi!
Congratulations...that is so wonderful that Mr.Bodhi will soon have a new little sister or brother to play with...I am very happy for you Katie:)
I absolutely LOVE having two! You won't regret it! They are different in some ways, but are inseparable! Good luck!
I'd just like to chime in and remind you to make sure that you are getting the second dog because you and your husband want the second dog and not because you think that Mr. Bodhi wants/needs a friend. I adopted a second doodle a couple of years ago (from DRC) and while they are both great dogs, I had a lot of trouble with the two of them. I stuck with it and things are much better now, but it was NOT any easy road.
If you are still interested, you might want to apply for one of these babies. These are up in Vermillion ( West of Cleveland)
They are only a week old now, but it's an idea.
