Does anyone add apple cider vinegar to their dogs food? I was just reading up on the benefits for human consumption and found out that it can be very beneficial for dogs, cats and even horses! Thanks in Advance!

I bet it would be good for them but I highly doubt they could get over the taste. I know this is good for many situations.
I've actually heard that the benefits of apple cider vinegar are a myth. But I have no evidence to back it up either way. Just what I heard around town... I'd be interested in other people's views on this.
What are the benefits for humans and dogs?
I was just reading last night about the "benefits" of apple cider vinegar. Apparently it has many healing properties. Great for cleaning sores, helps dry itchy skin, etc. Of course it is a herbal treatment so whether or not evidence based practice has been used to test it would be interesting to find out.
I doubt seriously that Daisy would go anywhere near it, and you know they use bitter apple to keep dogs away from things, I would think this would have the same effect.
I add a tiny bit to Coopers food once a day, most days. Occasionally ill add it to both her meals a day (when I can be bothered). I add it to the cats food too. When I say a a tiny bit i mean it. less than 1/4 a cap full to 1 cup of food (Cooper is 60lbs, and she eats a high protein diet so thats all she gets per meal) and literally one drop to the cats food (they get 1/4 and 1/3 cup). Im not sure about other benefits, but I find it reduces the amount of eye crusties she has, and helps with eye staining in my brilliant white (and lilac) lynx siamese. The 3 cats were never bothered by it, but it took Cooper a little while to get used to it - I think I was adding a bit too much at first.
Now if only I could get her to eat food with a drop of fish oil on it without disguising it with canned food or other toppers!
I've heard this before.....but I tend to think the same as others. Vinegar is definitely a deterrent for my dogs. Whenever they had accidents in the house, we cleaned the spots with white vinegar and they hate the smell! I've also cleaned their ears with a white vinegar and water solution....worked so much better than any regular ear cleaner I've tried. I haven't tried cider vinegar for anything, but isn't cider vinegar usually a diuretic?? I know people have used it for "cleanses" on themselves.
There was another discussion about Apple Cider Vinegar.

I think the apple cider vinegar is pure hokum. There is no way adding it to food or water does anything particularly beneficial.
Could this be our first hokum of 2012?
Very possibly, but surely not the last.
I hope not :)
