Well tis the time for naughty Doodles... at least in my house... the tree is up... when I leave and no one is home Cagney has been plucking off the decorations... especially the ones that look like red apples... he tears them apart.. red dye everywhere... and is is not washing off very well... and then he chowed down a favorite ornament ... a hand made wooden chair... toast... and then because there wasn't snow under the tree he decided to rip up the newspaper to shreds and then go in a bag with books for a library donation and shred up those too... hmmmm perhaps this Doodle will get nothing from Santa this year!!!!! Naughty Doodle! Anybody else have X-mas stories to tell?

Not yet, but thanks for the warning. Will put treasured childrens handmade decorations out of reach of the potentially naughty doodles at my house. Thing is if we put charcoal in thier stockings....they'd EAT it.
Last year our 2 girls were about 9 months so our tree was in "jail". We are hoping this year to graduate to a floor tree and hopefully it won't be in jail! Time will tell!

Oh I had to laugh at this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And boy are they cute!
AH! My nightmare exactly! This is the first year (well last year was her first Christmas) that Tori will have 'free roam' without being crated during the day. I'm so afraid to leave her looses with the tree decorated. Even tho' my MIL is in and out of our house throughout the day - she can (well used to) do MUCH damage in just a short time. We'll put our tree up next weekend - at least we'll have the weekend to watch her - but she's so smart - I can see her actually waiting for us to leave before she attacks! She worries me, because what "goes down and out" of most doodles after eating non-food items, causes havoc with Tori! My fingers are crossed! Maybe we'll have to put the gates back up for "the season"
Last year we had a very small tree up high where Max couldn't reach it. This year I'll try to floor tree which is prelit but not put any ornaments on it for awhile and see how that works. Maybe just decorations that he can't reach or I might try the jailed tree look:-)
Yeah - maybe just decorate the top half- that''ll be a good conversation starter for holiday guests - especially those without dogs! - LOL
This year I will do the partially the same as last. Last year I put up a small tree up on a table. I decorated the tree with old stuff, unbreakables, a big mishmash of ornaments. We had no issues last year. This year I will again use the small tree elevated but I think I am going to use my ornament collection (glass hand blown Old World style ornaments). And use those gates to block off the living room. Wish me luck.
I put up our tree this year with high hopes. Darwin is really great about not chewing up things in our house. After it was set up, I watched him all day, and he showed no interest in the tree.I went to bed without worrying. Then, in the morning, I kept finding little pieces of orange glitter twig pieces in his fur. I looked all over the tree but couldn't find anything that looked disturbed or out of place. He still shows no interest in the tree (when I'm around) Did he eat an entire piece of glitter/twig? It is a mystery I'm still trying to figure out. I'll have to watch for glitter in his poop... ha ha.
I'm decorating as usual in hopes that Timbow won't attack anything. He has never messed up anything in the house and I don't think that he'll start now. We shall see though!
Oh Dear, glitter poop!!! Guess it could be worse, hate to be looking for those Glass Old World Ornaments. This will be a good thread to keep going to see how they all do.
This is Harlow's first Christmas and I am a bit worried about the tree. We had to swap to artifical when the beagle boys were young because we could not stop them from drinking the water for the tree. =O Harlow is just a bouncie big puppy that I have visions of her jumping right in the middle of the tree. Hmmm, I think we will skip putting up the antique ornaments this year.=)
We just put the tree up today (but no lights/decorations yet). I totally don't trust Dex when we go to work so we will also be putting a cage around it :)
