My sister just told me the weirdest story.  Her cat has something low in her blood counts and after many tests including a veteranarian pathologist all they could come up with for this was to ask my sister "are you on Hormone replacement therapy?"  She is not ...but told me that women who are on HRT can cause problems with their pets health!  Now take it from me...my sister is a bit weird but I almost fell over when she said this to me.  Can this be true?  I have heard that if women work together in one office that there menstrual cycles all become the same...but this sounds really strange to me.  Has anyone ever heard of this phenonemum?

I am on HRT but I take estradial in pill form and not a cream or a patch.  I have heard of issues with women having issue's with the patch and creams transferring the hormones if they have young children that they pick up or hold on a regular basis.  It makes sense that a pet would be the same.  I did try the patch and cream and personally love the pill - I think my family likes the pill the best to ;-)

I'm on HRT and I have the pellets that are inserted under the skin for slow release.  Bio-identical.  Couldn't survive without them - lol!

So glad we answered this question cuz I'm thinking my two doody and DH would not want to live in a world without HRT! Not in my world anyway! I take pill form too so they are all safe.

My sister has been on that form of HRT also--wish I could be but my OB-GYN says it is too risky for someone with my history--I have had some abnormal (pre-cancerous) cells. My sister tells me that the bio-identical are some how safer, but I worry about her being on them for so many years--she is 67 and had a hysterectomy at 50 and has been on HRT ever since. Hopefully, this pellet system is safer.

I hear from several friends that take some form of HRT that it makes them feel much better.  I havnt really had the need for it yet.  But I would worry too about taking it for many years like that.  One friend tried to wean off it and her symptoms of severe hot flashes just came back.  So I think she will be on it for the rest of her life.  I guess that is OK with monitering from her doctor but it seems excessive to me.  She started menopause at the age of fourty..she says and has been on these drugs for 15 years now.  She has tons of energy and says that the treatment far outweighs any risk in her opinion.  I wonder though.

Yeah--my sister would never give them up--youth is very important to her--her hubby is only 47!
