Living in NJ this will be my first major hurricane.  What do you do with a dog, that's never been paper trained, when you can't go outside for two days?

On a bit of a different note, I just found Seamus sleeping in our back closet!! This freaked me out completely!  He's never done that before and I'm wondering if he's sensing something already?? Maybe it's just my energy that is affecting him, but still a little weird!  At least he is smart enough to know where to hide!  =P
I still take mine outside in all kinds of weather. I would try and get your dog to do it right outside the door as quickly as possible. Our Vern likes to stand in the rain.

Our doodles will be going outside regardless.  I guess I don't know what would happen if we had feet of standing water...let's pray that doesn't happen.

Oh - we will not be letting them outside offleash during the storm.  We have many huge trees in our yard and don't want to risk anything would fall on them while they're out so they will be on leash.

Good point.

My dogs will still be going outside. I'm sure there will be some calm moments.

Reba's housebreaking got derailed by adding Sunny to our home, and she recently got back on track after more than a year. I do NOT want to mess this up!

Good question. I figure with all 3 of us tied together we make a pretty hefty package. I really do worry about Luca, he's the lightest.
lol it's so funny! I JUST had this thought about Parker and how it's going to SUCK to have to go take him out in the hurricane for his potty breaks! Especially since he has had an upset tummy this week! I am from Bermuda so I have been through hurricanes before and we never had a problem with the dogs because the hurricanes tended to hit over night and the dogs didn't go to the bathroom over night anyway! lol and if they did need to..they'd run out quick and come back in. What is going to stink with Parker is that we don't have a fenced in yard since we live in a condo so he always has to be walked on a leash! oy...better charge my cameras so I can capture us blowing away! lol
Good luck to all of you who are being affected by this storm. Wow!  This is could be a real problem that I never even thought of before.
Maggie doesn't like to go out in a rain shower let alone a hurricane - this should be interesting.  I hadn't given any thought to pottying doodles in a hurricane so now I have another thing to worry about.  My main concern has been the full freezer that will be lost if the power goes out for days.  It is so calm and quiet right now that its hard to believe what tomorrow will bring.  Be safe everyone and let's hope it passes quickly.
Take a picture and do an inventory of what is stocked in your freezer. Your home owners insurance may reimburse you for it if you loose it all. Our insurance used to, not sure if that is everywhere for every insurance. But worth a try.
I am in Connecticut and it is POURING here already! My 4 month old doodle who usually doesn't mind the rain is not having it! She just had a pee accident in the house! HELP!
Can you put down some newspaper and tell her to go potty? Or put some poopy on the paper so she gets the idea that it is a potty area? Can you set it out in the garage?
