People make me angry for all sorts of reasons, but I just encountered the instance that makes me the angriest again.
I was walking with Orwell when a dog came up from behind us to say hi. His owner was not around and there was no escaping this dog. Orwell and this dog started to play and I knocked on a couple of doors to see if anyone knew who this dog was. I was unsuccessful and stayed with the dog for about 15 minutes before I decided to walk it to my vet (we are within walking distance from my house). A guy and a German Shepherd (why he had to bring the German Shepherd, I don't know) finally come down a long road that I guess lead to his driveway and started apologizing... in a way I did not appreciate one bit.
He literally said, "I'm sorry. This is some rescue dog my son wanted. I wish we didn't have him." And then he tightened the choke collar the dog had as tight as he could and dragged him away from me while yelling at him.
I was just left speechless and couldn't move for a bit.
I'm sorry, but this is why I love dogs more than humans. Having Asperger's Syndrome I suppose gives me a little different perspective on people than most. People are generally a resource of stress rather than anything else for me. I feel more comfortable with dogs and animals. I loved my deceased dog more than anything... there are only 4 people I would consider to be close to equal or equal with her, and I feel that way with Orwell.
Dogs deserve more from us and if I could ask for anything in the world, it'd probably be that these kinds of people would not own a dog or an animal. While they deserve more from us, there is not possible way we could pay them back for the love they give us.
Sorry guys... I just had to vent this.
Thank you guys for not being the kind of people that make me angry. (:

I hope the son is close to 18 and will be moving out with the doggy soon.
I hope so too. The son seems like a nice guy at least.
I can empathize with you... Anyone treating dogs in other than a loving way gets my dander up. I just wish someone could do to them what they do to dogs. That would be just retribution and would warm my heart!
This is the quote that was going through my head. (:
I do remember after the first "Sorry" before he went into his rant about how he didn't want the dog, I said, "It's okay. I was just concerned because we are by this big road here.
If anything happened to that dog I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Sadly, after the fact, I kind of wished I lived on my own so I could take the dog home, put up an ad... and then no one would bother claiming him.
I can totally sympathize with you. Some people are just so......so.... so... annoyingly stupid. Glad you kept your cool
I can't imagine any reputable rescue group adopting to this man. Poor dog.
It doesn't sound like this dog was "rescued." Thankfully I don't meet many people like this, but when I do, it's upsetting. I'd like to put a choker on them :(
Hope he was having a bad day and that he will learn (like all of us on this site are learning by the heroes here) what it takes to help a rescue become part of a new family. Otherwise, let's hope the dog gets another, better, home soon.
You have every right to be angry at this man. First, for letting the dog out and in a dangerous situation and second, for mistreating the dog. Kind of ruins the day.
