Just took down the crate and it's folded up and in the garage!  Happy Days!  He did look very puzzled as we disassembled it!  I think it will be a distant memory for all of us very soon!  thanks for all the support!

Congratulations!

In the past, I always kept my crates up with the doors open, for my dogs to use as "dens", as they all liked to go in there to nap or chew on bones.

We also keep the crates accessible. Bentley likes to take naps in his.

Congrats to both you and Quincy on being crate free!

Congrats!:) a new chapter for you guys!

Congrats to Quincy! I think we are stuck with our big bulky crate forever.. my 7 month old Sophie is obsessed with her crate and spends lot of her down time in there (with door open). She would be so lost without it! Haha!

We took two crates down about a year ago.  My kitchen was too crowded with three big crates.  Wayne doesn't miss it but Charlie will go take a nap in Penny's crate some days.  It must be comforting for him.  I suspect it is another year or two until Penny will have complete freedom.

Quincy must have proved himself a trustworthy dood.  Congrats!

Good for Quincy! It must be nice to have the extra space that the crate took up. Im sure he will find a nice cozy spot to call his special place. Mine have several.

Congratulations!

Bodi likes to have a "den" as well, but he sits under the desk, or under a table in the corner of the room.  I think it gives him security!  Congrats - it does feel good to get that crate out of the living space!!

Quincy has never gone into the crate except when we held up a Kong filled with cream cheese before leaving for work...he has had free roam of the house when we are home since he was a couple of months or so and has his "spots"- the bed in the den, the cold tile shower, the end of our bed, the head of the stairs...and rotates during the night.  and when outside with us, under the Japanese maple that hangs low.  I think the crate days are over, and I am just as happy! This is such a stress free house most of the time (ok-all the time, we are boring) that he does not need a place to go.  If he did, I think he would head upstairs to our bedroom and jump on our bed!

thanks for the good words, all!

My Shelby was the same way... Only went in when given the command and a treat. Not once did I see her go in to relax on her own. Congratulations Quincy on turning 2 and being crate free! House freedom is the best!

Congrats!  That's the sign of a big boy, for sure!  :)

That is such a great feeling when the crate is gone and they are totally trustworthy.  Way to go Quincy!
