I wish JD would sleep like that, lengthwise with his head on the pillow, like a person. He sleeps sideways across the bed, and there's no room; he stretches from one side of a king sized mattress to the other.
It reminds me of my favorite part of that hilarious "Letter to the Dogs and Cats":
"I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs CAN actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that Sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm."
This really is funny. That's exactly how Murphy sleeps....so he doesn't get to sleep in our bed when DH and I are both there. When Murph lays across the bed with his front and back legs stretched out, he's actually longer than the width of the bed. He does sleep on the bed though earlier in the evening, and that's "cuddle time". Now that we have our King size bed, Guinness sleeps with us all night. He curls up in a little ball by my feet and pretty much stays in that position.
hehehehe this just made me laugh out loud!! "I tried giving her her own bed on the floor but she ate it!!!!! Twice!!!!!" LOL Our two big doods can't sleep (or fit) on our bed for obvious reasons....so they are banished to the floor.
A teacher I work with left her big dog out one day, loose in the house, when she went to work. When she came home, her couch was gone...all but the frame. Her dog ate it! lol your story made me think of that. =)
