Does anyone else have a doodlebug that thinks the bed belongs to them.  She looks so at peace with her head on the pillow I hate to move her.  I tried giving her her own bed on the floor but she ate it!!!!! Twice!!!!!

Yup my doodlebug is like yours... he uses my pillow and gets really comfortable on our bed every night.
Darwin sleeps in his crate at night, but we occasionally invite him up onto the bed in the morning for cuddles. He steps all over us and tries to lay on our pillows right next to us so it's not something we do often. :-) Bed hog!
Glad to hear that yours steps on you as well.   Mine will sit or lay on top of me thinking she is a little dog! However when she is laying with her big head on my pillow next to me looking at me with those green eyes, how can you get mad! She has me wrapped around her paws!!! I've found this breed to be so intelligent it's almost scary!

I wish JD would sleep like that, lengthwise with his head on the pillow, like a person. He sleeps sideways across the bed, and there's no room; he stretches from one side of a king sized mattress to the other.

It reminds me of my favorite part of that hilarious "Letter to the Dogs and Cats":

"I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs CAN actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that Sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm."

That is awesome!
This cracks me up Karen....I love the Letter to the Dogs and Cats.....apparently Jack  doesn't read his mail!

This really is funny.  That's exactly how Murphy sleeps....so he doesn't get to sleep in our bed when DH and I are both there. When Murph lays across the bed with his front and back legs stretched out, he's actually longer than the width of the bed.  He does sleep on the bed though earlier in the evening, and that's "cuddle time".  Now that we have our King size bed, Guinness sleeps with us all night.  He curls up in a little ball by my feet and pretty much stays in that position.

hehehehe  this just made me laugh out loud!! "I tried giving her her own bed on the floor but she ate it!!!!! Twice!!!!!"  LOL Our two big doods can't sleep (or fit) on our bed for obvious reasons....so they are banished to the floor.

A teacher I work with left her big dog out one day, loose in the house, when she went to work.  When she came home, her couch was gone...all but the frame.  Her dog ate it!  lol  your story made me think of that.  =)

Lola is very respectful of my bed without any training.  She spends most of the time in the opposite corner but will jump off throughout the night.  However, she never come back into the bed without asking first.  She figured out that she would jump on my legs and startle me so she waits until I stir and then gives a whimper.  I pat the bed and she jumps up into her corner.  In the morning she will crawl up to be face to face for some petting.
You have perfectly described Kona's bed manners in your discussion of Lola's. Wonderful to have such a respectful doodle. Our puppy has much to learn! He still sleeps in his crate.
although duncan is a mini and only 30 lbs he has a tendency to burrow as tight as he can to me. sometimes we start the night with him on the left and me on the right (queen size bed) but by 5am i will feel hot breath and see his head leaning on my neck with his nose near my ear. He basically likes to "spoon"! HAHA. When he first got bed priveleges at about 7months he only slept at the foot of the bed. But over the last year and a half he's learned he can get all the way up to my pillow. I usually find myself at the very edge of the bed but since bedtime is my favorite time with my doodle i accept that he is a hog-doodle.
Fudge and Vern start out on the bed with me while I am watching TV. Fudge does not like Vern to touch her when she is sleeping and he is very respectful of that. I swear, she tries to take up as much space as possible, just so he does not have any room on the bed. I actually have to let him on the bed first, or there will be no room for him and we have a KING sized bed. I, too, would be happy if they slept lengthwise on the bed, but both will stretch out sideways and many times I have my legs all bunched up just to give them room. Vern also has no concept of his size and will plop right down on you and just lay there (thus, the reason Fudge does not want him touching her) Once my husband comes to bed, then we start playing musical beds. One or the other(dogs, not my husband) wants down and usually ends with both of them sleeping on the floor.
