Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Farley is 9 weeks. Breeder said he'd be wavy, mid-length, but my trainer says he's going to be very curly and poodle-like.

Curious as to what kind of doodle coat you think he'll have as he matures. He's a North American Retriever or double doodle (golden doodle, F1B labradoodle cross)

I'd love to see pics if you have them of your dog with coat like mine - then and now!

Thanks in advance!

I think he will be quite wavy but not poodle like. He is gorgeous.

I think the trainer is wrong - breeder knows best in this case - he is lovely, looks like wavy to me. Although, they can change after the puppy coat, I really can't see this one getting curly like a poodle.

Here is the picture everyone--he is so pretty! I agree--wavy, not poodle-y. He will have a fleece coat--maybe a bit curlier than he is now, but you would see tighter curls if it was going to be a wool coat.

Hey! I recognize that bedspread from Company Store-- I think--I like it!

I agree with Ginnie.  Looking forward to seeing him after adult coat comes in!  May be a surprise!  He is sure cute!

I don't think Farley will be poodle-like, but his coat may be more than just wavy, too. My Lucy (4-1/2 yrs) is poodle-like with a very wooly coat. Here's a pic of her at 8 weeks:

And Oscar (17 mos.) now has a soft curly coat (not wooly). Here's a pic of him at 8 weeks:

As you can see, Farley has less curl than either of them at his age. He's adorable, BTW!

Like my Riley. Wavy fleece. Gorgeous puppy.

He doesnt remind of Yogi, so I cant help... but he is so cute however he turns out!

Here's my Charlie at 9 or 10 weeks. She is very curly and poodle like. I think Farley may be more fleecy and wavy than curly.

I would trust the breeders opinion over groomers any day. After all, she knows what went into the mix to produce this pup. Yes, there are always recessive genes from generations back that can produce a different coat, so waiting to see if the only real way to know for sure. In my humble opinion, he looks wavy, not curly poodle like. I've never known one to go from this type of wavy to curly, but my experience is much more limited than others here or groomers.
