I'm 60 and have had myDoodles for a year.I worked with both at an early age because I knew they would soon be bigger than me.I was pulled to the ground only ONCE.They wanted to play with another walking dog and once I was down they had no interest in the dog,but came running to see if i was ok.

Hey Vicky, We've been to Carmel once and met Lynda Kamrath there. (She has pcitures of us there on her site) We thought we had fairly good recall for our pups, but they love!!! the water, especially Roxy. So, off they went down the beach all the way to the end and didn't look back at us running after them. We did catch up and they did came to us thank God! I thought I'd lost them forgever. They had the time of their life! Next time we'll use long leads. We have friends with places in Cayucous and love that part of the coast. I'm currently under going chemo for breast cancer but hopefully will finish up mid Dec. Then radiation. The Spring Time will be a welcoming and a renewing time for me and I'm sure we'll be up for some beach time with our Doodles even if it is to meet for a day romp in Carmel. Keep us in mind when you make plans and maybe we'll be able to join in the fun.

Hi, Patty (Roxy & Spencer), we go to either Cambria or Carmel twice a year. We started out with 6 adults and 8 Doodles, but lost a couple along the way (lol), so it was 5/5 for the week.

Aside from the day it rained ~and we went wine tasting~ we were at the Beach every day. Carmel has one of the best off-leash dog beaches in the country, and Cambria is second best. (In fact, we spent this morning at Crissy Field.)

We will probably go again in the Spring and would love to have you join us!

Vicky, We are in the Santa Cruz Mtns. and love the coast. Where on the Central Cal. Coast do you vacation with 5 Doodles. Our 2 love the beach especially Roxy. Can't think of a better vacation than a week at the beach with my Husband and our Doods!

Consider travelling WITH your Doodles ~ five of us just spent a week on the Central California Coast with five Doodles. We have been doing this twice a year and it is wonderful.

I think you will find that more and more places are becoming dog-friendly. We had warm receptions wherever we went.

Think about it.

We lost our German Shephard in July of 2009. I said I wouldn't get another dog so we could travel. However, it was so quiet around here with my kids gone and I fell in love with my friends doodle. That was it, we purchased Rylee in November of 2009 and we purchased Cooper in August of 2010. They bring such joy to our lives and so much personality and fun in the house.

We have a dog sitter who can come when we go away. We haven't gone for long, just an overnight, but I think we will be fine if we go for a week.
