I would love to get Rags in some real agility classes. I need a place to go in New York. I know about LIA(Long Island Agility) but they only do it on Sunday Mornings and it's out doors. So if the weather isn't good, the class isn't on. Anyway I could never get there. Anybody know of another agility class in New York?

Nancy, I would like to hear about your cattle dog training. I want to try to get Murphy into a herding class here....not that I think he will be that good. Just curious.

When we were at the agility trial a beautiful Australian shepherd was next to us quite often. He kept kinda nipping at Murphy's heels and his owner would pull him away, embarrased.
In retrospect, I think Thurnder thought Murphy was a sheep (like small children in Petsmart).

Hi All
Murphy and I have been doing agility for about a year and a half. We did our first competition in November.( this was after 2 hurricanes so we hadn't been practicing a lot.)
Murphy is quite enthusiastic and VERY fast. It was a NADAC trial and there was an event called Tunnelers. Nothing but Tunnels. Murphy's favorite. I thought we would give it a shot. 14 Tunnels to be exact.
(It reminded me of taking my ADHD son to open gym at gymnastics)
Oh, and did I mention that Murphy is 28 inches at the withers and tunnels are 22-24 inches.
Murphy did the first 4 tunnels with great enthusiasm. and then it was "TUNNEL!!!!" he did every tunnel...some more than once. just not in the right order.
The people were soo nice (95% AKC people). The lady heading up the event said that she shouldn't charge us because he was so entertaining.
I asked the photographer about pictures. She apologized for not taking any because she was laughing so hard.
We didn;t win any prizes but we met some really nice people and had a wonderful time. They loved Murphy and his enthusiasm.
And now they know what a Goldendoodle is.

Wow a Maltese... that would be interesting and FUN to watch!! Meadow (my phantom) loves to run plus she has managed to jump through a hole in the gate on the fly no less. SO while I am not keen on the jumping through the gate part her ability to fit herself through small holes while running leads me to believe she might be pretty good at agility.

I would like to begin Holly with agility training. I love to see dogs doing agility. A friend of mine has a Maltese which she got from our breeding prgram (we have since retired from breedings) which she seriously expects to become the top Maltese in agility.

I have done agility with my f1 Citrine. She is the hyper-type and very focused so we did well in class.
I am looking forward to starting again with one of my Australian Labradoodles. So far, I haven't had one that wants to run fast, or try hard...so mellow....I am looking for a candidate amongst my puppies.

Okay I will go first. I I am on the waiting list for our local agility group. SO I am going to work with a cattle dog trainer for a bit. I have one dog that I think will benefit immensley from this type of trianing... who knows maybe both will. I would like to hear more about your experiences with your dog and agility. I think one of my doodles would be very good at it!
