Lori...isn't it amazing how different weave poles can make a difference. I notice that Parris takes a run or two to adjust to different width of weave poles. I have an agility friend that will train 18 weave poles instead of twelve because her dog always pops out with 2 poles left. Go figure????
Karen...that is awesome that Spencer will already be familiar with his surroundings. Parris LOVES to sniff so much that I use it as a reward after her treat cup. How exciting that you are into competition prep!
Karen......you are going to have a blast. You MUST let us know how the first trial goes. Is your first trial inside or outside?
Karen....I used several methods with Parris. When she was a pup I used 2x2 and I thought it was excellent. I took a few seminars and incorporated some other methods....the 2x2 is a strong foundation. When Parris and I first started trialing she found all her weave entries just fine....when she got faster on course...she decided to just blow by the weaves....just didn't want to slow down to weave. I had to make them really valuable when training . I also learned that I had to speed up as Parris was weaving so she could "feel" the rhythm. When is your first trial? Get ready to have soooo much fun!!!
