Welcome to the Dixie's Doodle Alumni group. Dixie has been breeding Austrailian Labradoodles for years now and I thought it would be fun to have a group dedicated to all the precious doodles that came from her program.

Let's share some info about our doodles! What litter did your doodle come from.. and of course, we want to see photos too!!

Hi! Just back from vacation. I can't believe Dixie's coral snake experience. I know we have coral snakes on our property, but have never seen one. Melanie, I wold love to get our puppies together soon, I will email you and set something up! Can't wait for the next Doodle Romp. My daughter cried when Fozzy came home with his new summer doo. I mean she cried bitterly. I don't think I will ever give him such a close cut again. But he was comfy and cool for the puppy camp they attended earlier this summer. Hearts & Paws-if anyone wants to send their child to a great summer day camp with their Doodle in Austin, I highly recommend this one!! Glad to be home, Doodle Kisses is the best!

A Labradoodle bred to a Goldendoodle is called a double doodle. Some call them North American Retriever or NAR.

Dixie: What's a "double doodle"?

Kristen.... so scary that Maxwell got into the fire ants. I have been worried about Shelby doing this - we have had a couple of close calls while on walks... steps on the mound, but keeps moving before the swarm of ants can get to her. Glad to hear he is doing better now. Dixie... thanks for the info on how to care for the bites and soothe the itch!

Thanks so much Dixie! He seems to be doing good now, just terrified of the back yard. :)

Kristen, some suggestions...

There is a product called neo-predef you can get from the vet. It is a powder and has a numbing agent as well as a healing attribute. Put it on and entertain the dog for about 5 minutes to let the powder do its job. It settles the irritated area and also speeds up healing.

You can give him benadryl. Administer up to 1 mg/lb every 8 hours (or 3 times a day -- tid). So if you have a 20 lb. dog, it's 20 mg of diphenhydramine. This is higher than the equivalent dose for humans, but nevertheless seems to be the accepted dose for dogs.

Head and Shoulders Soft and Silky Shampoo soothes itchy dogs. Be careful not to get in eyes.

We are moving to Dallas the second week of July. Let's do another doodle romp! :)

Maxwell is doing good, but tonight he dug his way into a giant fire ant bed. We are pretty sure we got all the ants off (but of course he is the same color as the ants) and now he is having some itching issues. Is there any non-toxic itch relief cream or something we could try? Maybe a small dose of children's benadryl?

Kristen.... I noticed that you tagged a photo of Shelby from our B/CS doodle romp! That is awesome! When are you moving to Dallas? How's Maxwell?

I just noticed that Shelby made the #2 spot on this weeks slide show for redheaded doodles! I have had a silly goal for myself to get her in as the lead photo.... #2 is the best I've done thus far :o) Silly, I know... but I am excited!
