Welcome to the Dixie's Doodle Alumni group. Dixie has been breeding Austrailian Labradoodles for years now and I thought it would be fun to have a group dedicated to all the precious doodles that came from her program.

Let's share some info about our doodles! What litter did your doodle come from.. and of course, we want to see photos too!!

Malu is from Mudgee and Marlee's last litter on Feb 5. So funny, Jett's litter is my birthday, and I remember thinking, maybe I should get one of those puppies!

Oh I must have your Malu mixed up with another puppy! I was thinking he was about the same age as Jett. What litter is Malu from? Jett is from Shadow and Kona, born 11/08/09.

Malu loves water most of the time. He didn't like getting spayed down with the hose, but enjoyed the lathering/massage. He did like being wet afterward. He plays in the water bowl all the time (SO annoying!!) and gets under the water hose when I water the garden and plants. He weighs 17 lbs right now!

He is very cute. Does he love his baths? Jett loves the water...he gets wet in the sprinkler and tries to get in the shower if I don't close the door quickly! He even pats the water in his bowl. He likes the hair drier too. He is a funny guy. How big is Malu? I bet Jett is 40 pounds.

Thanks to you all for the welcome! Dixie, we're grateful that you filled folks in on Casey's parents. His biological mom, Bella, has the sweetest spirit, and so does Casey. He's been a joy and a delight from day one. I look forward to hearing about all of y'all's wonderful Doodles!

Thanks Beth! She left in January, but every time I tried to write about it I couldn't. :( We miss her! I know YOU understand!

Actually, I know of a few schools who do use them, but it's not common. The main concern I've heard about standard poodles as service dogs is getting the steady, even, temperament necessary...some individuals are overly sensitive from what I've heard (?) Their intelligence is a great asset however. I think a well bred individual with reliable temperament would be suitable for many types of service work. Their coat can be a plus or a minus -- for some, the lack of shedding is important -- other people say it's too hard to care for. It does seem like more work than a doodle coat but I guess it depends on how you keep it clipped. Guide dog schools in the UK tend to use poodles in the breeding program to cross with labs or golden retrievers rather than just using purebred poodles.
