Hello everyone! I am getting a puppy out of Mudgee and Marlee on April 2nd. I joined the forum so I can pass my time until my Doodle actually comes home. I am ridiculously excited!

Alfie weighs 55 pounds. The vet says he's fine.

Without seeing him, I'm not sure if he is overweight. If he has sturdy boning, 50 lbs might be OK for him. My vet has a chart in his office that shows how to tell the difference between an overweight dog and one that is an ideal weight. Reba is about 40 lbs, and it seems like Sully (the sire) is around 60. It's certainly not inconceivable that 50 could be a perfectly good weight for him.

Overweight dogs have extra pressure on their joints, and that can lead to painful problems, like dysplasia or arthritis. It is always best to keep them on the lean side if you can. A little too lean is better than a little too heavy.

Thanks for clearing that up, Dixie. I didn't pay attention to Susan's date. Hope you are doing well. The doodles are doing great except that my vet told me yesterday that Sully is 10 pounds overweight. He weighs 50 pounds. Do you think that is too heavy? He really fussed at me and told me that Sully is probably eating all of Emma's food because she is a perfect weight. My husband told me to tell him that everyone in our house is overweight (ha ha)!!

I believe they are siblings but not littermates. Alfie is almost 3, and Sully almost 2.

Susan, I believe our dogs are from the same litter. My Sully will be 2 in May I think. His dad is Sully and his mom is Reba. My other dog, Emma was out of Marley and Peabo. She will also be 2 soon.

Cherry Galileo was the sire's registered name. His call name is Sully. It's sort of like my dog Mudgee. We've always called him Mudgee but his registered name is Chessy Park Fudge.

I love that pic of Alfie; he looks like a giant rabbit!

Ooops. His birthday is May 4 of 2007, not June of 2008. (Please don't tell him I forgot his birthday!)
