@Margaret - My vet recommended to NOT give the antibiotics that she came with because there are problems associated with that antibiotic (can cause problems later in life).  Pink has been on a regimen of Panicure for the past 3 months because she hasn't had a giardia-free sample yet.

Also, having good stools doesn't mean she doesn't have Giardia - Pink's stools are fine and is otherwise asymptomatic

I buy ours at Trader Joe's, but I know that Costco has recently started selling a very large container of Nutiva brand coconut oil. It is extra virgin and a high quality product as well. Coconut oil is an amazing thing. My 11 year old son fell on a stump from a windfall fir tree and gouged his back so badly that it's a miracle he didn't bleed to death. I took him in and they recommended a dual antibiotic ointment for healing with bandage changes. I told the Dr. that I would be using Coconut Oil, and shockingly he said that he thought that would be an okay sub. So I did, and he healed with minimal scarring and in a third of the time. I also have used it on my peke a poo for skin irritation, and for yeasty ears and faces. Never disappoints. :)

@Margaret ~ any specific brand of extra virgin coconut oil?  I am interested in trying that.  I am glad she is not have runny pooh today.  You must be on the right tract!

Thank you for all of the information!! I so appreciate it!! I made her a 'pudding' of organic banana, organic extra virgin coconut oil, and a probiotic. He stool looks great today. I got her some organic natural canned food at my local co-op and it has lamb, potato, and brown rice. She ate every bit. I am aware of the giardia factor, I was given anti-biotics in a baggie with her take-home info the day we got her. Coconut oil is effective in killing a broad spectrum of parasites and fungi, I give it to all my dogs. I will have her fecal done next visit to the vet and see if my regimen is working. If not I'm more than happy to give her the meds and whatever else she needs. I have a hunch that we're on the right track though!! Thank you again everyone, it surely helps to have a community. :)

Our Java from ML has always had a sensitive stomach and gets loose stools frequently.  He came home on Wellness and did well, but we fed our other doodle raw, so we fed both raw in the morning and wellness kibble at night.  Couldn't keep him consistent this way, so we switched to EVO, high protein, but are finding he does not do well with too much protein and has regular stools, but always too loose.  Have now added back 1/2 wellness and he is doing much better.  Both with a main chicken protein.  If he gets bored we add boiled chicken to the top. Much of what I have read is saying that some of the high quality foods are just too rich for some dogs.  After ruling out giardia, it seems to be the ttrick is finding what works for your dog.

Oliver came home in July from ML and was the same way. he didn't seem to like TOTW and his stools were very loose. After his giardia test came back negative we switched his food to Lotus Puppy (small bites) and mixed in some pumpkin and chicken breast and he became a better eater and his stools firmed up! On Lotus he grew from a skinny 6.5 to 20 pounds. Last month, we switched him to Acana Duck and Bartlett Pear (single protein) because he seemed to be getting tired of the Lotus. For variety, we mix in a little cooked meat (chicken breast, ground beef, or salmon) and he's doing great! Switching foods (and getting the giardia test) may do the trick, let us know how Stella does!

To Margaret Spears ~ Our ML puppy also came eating TOTW.  He was having same issues and did not want to eat the TOTW.  A week after our Wellness Exam, his fecal came back positive for Giardi. He had to take panacure for 7 days and it was better, but now he is just finishing up an antibiotic and he is still on Fortiflora daily and I think we may have it licked! Have you had her checked for giardia.  Keep us posted.

I changed Beau's food to Acana Lamb & Apple which is a single protein and he is really doing great.  Hasn't had runny poop for a week and a half! Yeah.

I got Pink from ML this summer.  She didn't like to TOTW so I switched her food and have had not problem (NOW for large breed puppies).

Have her checked for Giardia - Pink came with Giardia from Manor Lake and we've been battling ever since.  The vet recommended Fortiflora daily - you can only get it at your vet or online (it's a little cheaper from Amazon than the vet).  It helped a lot.

I need some advice rather quickly. Our new pup Stella has been on the TOTW food that was recommended since we got her. Her tummy has always seemed a bit off, and now she has super frequent stool and intermittent diarrhea. I'm concerned about it because she has no weight to spare. She was VERY thin when she came to us, (I've read that at that age skinny can be normal due to the poodle blood.) I have had her checked out by our vet and she seems happy otherwise. I am near certain it's the food. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. M
