Making Your Front Page - Sharing Fun Ideas and Links

In conversation with other DK members I have found that there are a lot of fun links out there to get bling, countdown calendars, backgrounds and other fun stuff to build "My Page" with. I think it would be fun if other members shared their secrets!

I managed to get the shamrocks on the left hand side (repeat vertical) but I haven't managed to put them on the right side so the page now looks lopsided.  Not sure what I have done wrong? I'm sure it's something simple but I just can't seem to work it out.

Thanks for all your help. I'm an owner in waiting and in awe of all your great pages.  I am really going to try to do something for Paddy's day (as we say here in Dublin!) and as I'm pretty nifty with my own blogsite I just need a little patience!

I'm trying to upload the graphics from PitaPata that I see on other's pages. I'm unable to figure it out. Could someone help me? I've tried the HMTL the URL ... Sorry, but I'm not computer savvy. Thanks so much.

I usually get my backgrounds from glittergraphics but Donna's suggested sites are awesome. I just haven't tried any yet because I had already done St. Patrick's Day. I also use my own photos for the body or sides sometimes.  The first thing you should do is check out the different themes because some let you make certain parts of your page transparent so you can upload things from sites like glittergraphics and they will show over the whole page.  The header can be a bit trickier because you often have to resize if you want a picture there.

Nicky, I started by decorating for Halloween, then Thanksgiving/Fall, then Christmas, then winter, then Valentines and now St. Patrick's Day!  Next will be Spring, then Easter...you get the picture.  For me, once I have the event, I select a theme that either has the colors close to what I want or I can easily change.

I will then figure out what I want for a picture and search for one.  The form and function page that Nina talked about (I used the clovers) allows a seemless look )for some reason right now the site isn't working for me.

I usually will change a color to text...save...look at it to see if I like it before doing more.  Usually one thing at a time 'cause I don't always know what does what.  I love what Donna Vee has done with the stationary images and those that float.  She emailed screen shots to me, but I haven't felt up to being creative.  Perhaps for Easter!

You can also MOVE sections of your page around.  I use a particular section to list events and her stats (that helps me remember her "firsts" and how much she weighed, when.

Lot's of people use (free) PitaPata tickers, Picnik, Blingee, to name a few, to incorporate in their pages.

Nicky, I am an accountant.  Very left-brained, so IF I can do it, anyone can!

Nicky and Dori,
How can I help you specifically. There are several ways to change things up and I don't know all of them. But I will be glad to share what I do know.

Thanks for your reply.  I've been searching around and it hasn't 'clicked' yet!  I guess I will have to keep trying but right now I'm in awe of some of these amazing pages.

Oh Nicky, I sure wish there was.  Mostly been trial and error, looking through the discussions for tips, and if you find something you really like on someone's page, asking them how they did it!.
