‘Mrs O’Connor is using that dam hairdryer again’ said my mother as the black and white TV looked like a snow storm yet again. Mrs O’Connor had one of those dryers that involved her sitting with a cap over her hair with a tube attached to a machine and as she was our next door neighbor was routinely blamed every time the TV set had major interrupted service. Grandpa called for a lemon tea and three lumps of sugar which I was too young to make but was…

I have been MIA for the last while because life has been very very busy here. The Irish Jewish community is very small but what it lacks in numbers it punches way above it's weight in actions and deeds. At it's height we had 5,000 members and now it's about 1500. We have had several Lord Mayors, Government Ministers, etc and have always figured highly in Irish public life. Lots of the community over the years left these shores like the rest of the Irish and can now be found in the USA,…

This morning I was working from home. I often do this on a Friday, I use the time to catch up on emails and calls and it's relaxing to know that I don't have to drive anywhere. The weather here has been mild so I had the back door to the garden open for the boys to wonder in and out. So far so good.... Feral cats are the bane of my life and the elderly neighbour to my right has a shed up against our wall where she leaves food for them so they perch on top of the shed and look down at the…

Kvell in Yiddish means to boast in a proud way. I do it whenever one of my children accomplishes something that I think is particularly noteworthy. Jessica, my eldest musician daughter wrote and performed her own song at a charity concert the other night.( I had to add it as a link to my blog as I couldn't embed the original recording ) …

Got it! And the list grows.
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day!
Thanks, Nicky. We got to dog sit him today and taught him how to go through the dog door. He slaps the door with both paws - it is too funny!
Nicky, thanks for your sweet comment on my page. We see the Vet this afternoon, so I'll know more after that visit. He does seem to be doing better.
Very happy to hear this positive update. You got things corrected so early, I can't help it believe that you have every reason to expect that he lives a long and pain free, happy life. Hugs to all :)
Hi Nicky, just thinking of you and wondering how sweet Boris is doing these days.
OMG Nicky, how did I miss that?? I'm so sorry to hear about poor sweet Boris. I hope his wounds heal quickly. That is sad that he won't be able to run off leash too much. At least he has you to love and cherish him, which is awesome enough for most dogs. Hang in there, I hope the next few weeks go by quickly and painlessly for both of you! My mom has inflammatory osteoarthritis now, I saw her at Chritsmas and it isn't pretty. I hope he doesn't get it.
Oh BTW... I do have Argo signed up for classes already, lol :D
Thank you for the information!! I will check them all out and that pet ins!! I have heard of pet ins but don't know anything about it or how much it cost, I will check it out for sure though. I hope your Boris is doing well!
Nicky, last night Spud was such a happy jerk. A true, bad puppy. You could see the joy and read his mind. He was so glad to be back among us. Thank you for asking. The lump is still there. Darn. They said, wait a few more months.
Have fun in Key West. Really a nothing place, just history. It is an island, 3 miles by 3 miles. Nothing Fancy. I was there when the cruise ships would stop for the day. Really, nothing to visualize, it is an atmosphere. Everyone has been to this very tiny place. Maybe it has a Happy Aura? Dont ask me. I dont get it. But I loved it too and had the time of my life doing NOTHING :)
Stop in Captain Tony's for Roger and Me. A old old pub that reeks of the famous.
There are dozens of bar stools with names of those who sat there. Here is Roger's butt on one stool and mine on the next. We have too many of these
Me at the bar. NO, I did not leave my bar here. I dont think I took one on vacation. I dont believe they wear shoes or bras on this island.
Jimmy Buffett the singer, got his start here and most of his songs are about living here.
