Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I've noticed that there was a bit of a discussion some time ago about this product from The Honest Kitchen...."Ice Pups," but I wanted to add a bit more. I just discovered today that my puppy, Gracie, mini labradoodle, 11 weeks old, LOVES these doggie popsicles Actually, she's only had one so far, and I can see that it was an immediate hit. I got a free sample (small) package from a purchase that I made from the Honest Kitchen, and decided to try it out today. It's a dry powder and consists of "dehydrated chicken, turkey, whey, dandelion, asparagus, watercress, honey and parsley." I followed the directions, adding a cup of warm water to it, and then divided it into four small paper cups that went into the freezer. I wondered how long this popsicle would actually last...she licked it (and licked and licked and licked...no chewing)....about thirty minutes of delicious bliss for her. She still likes her bully sticks, that I got from the Boulder Dog Food Company, but can't really do much with them at this point...she seems to be able to soften the end of them a bit, etc. I also got a few of the "baked bison caps (kneecaps) from this same company. Again...she loves them, and they seem to last quite awhile since her little mouth isn't able to do any serious chewing. The popsicles, bully sticks and kneecaps seem to "buy time" when I need her to entertain herself for whatever reasons...like when I have something else that needs to be done around the house.
By the way, I'm now slowly transitioning her off of the Purina puppy food that the breeder sent home with me...moving her to "Orijen" for puppies, and "Love"...the dehydrated food from Honest Kitchen, but I'm always on the lookout for quality treats that I can use with her during the day and for training.
I've been very (VERY) lucky with Gracie...she is incredibly mild-mannered, happy and friendly so far, but I have a feeling that some of that may change as we move through the weeks and months ahead.

This sounds perfect. We tried the frozen wash cloth today and it lasted about 5 minutes. I think something with flavor will last much longer. I'm going to go find some tomorrow! Thanks for sharing!!
Puppy popsicles (pupsicles?) and frozen yogurt sound like a great Summer treat. Rather than buying a dog product though, I think I'll try using plain, non fat yogurt with a little peanut butter mixed in, and then freezing it in cups. Thanks for the idea!
Great idea...I think I may try this too...I may even add a little bit of the plain yogurt and peanut butter to my original Ice Pups base mix to extend it a bit with extra flavors and nutrition.
Here is a fun tip that works with Xander:
Ice Tray + Chicken Broth
1 Can of chicken broth = 1.5 ice trays.
Good luck!
