We are getting ready for a motorcycle trip a week from Tuesday so have appts. etc for my mom most of the week - and a dentist appt. for Skip who lost his crown on Friday night!  AND, DUH!!! the RV is in for a service and some coach repairs - like I forgot it isn't in our driveway!

http://www.lasvegasrvresort.com/  We both stayed here.

We have stayed here and there is a pool (not heated) and a spa (hot!)  It is a former trailer park. http://www.oceansidervpark.com/default.aspx  This place is on the east side of Hwy 1 so you would be crossing and about a 10 min. walk to the beach. They have an off-leash dog potty area.  Make phone reservations.

Hwy 1 side.  We haven't stayed but have walked thru. Parking lot style so very level for you.  http://www.paradisebythesearvresort.com/

Flying Flags is one of our favorite weekend choices.  They have a large off-leash dog area. Solvang is nearby. Also near is Los Olivos, a lavendar farm and some nice canyon drives.  http://www.flyingflags.com/   Make phone reservations.

We haven't camped in Julian in years so I am not sure what the campground is like.  The town is cute - lots of traffic and congestion when we have ridden the bikes through; yummy restaurant outside of town in

Okay folks we've got the RV out while the house is being fumigated and I've got the itch to get out and enjoy some fresh air with my two fur babies, only hitch is my walking is still pretty limited so no hikes or beaches :( can anyone throw out weekends getaway ideas (Nancy/Skip) or fun day trips (Ro/Stu)? Anyone been to Julian with their dogs and if so what is the best time of year? With the holidays coming up in looking forward to some RV outings? Anyone up for a day trip outside of the dog park?? TIA

Jolene, That's an excellent example of "The secret to training is to be consistent."  Our two get to be on the bed with Arnie until I come to bed and tell them "Nightly nite" then they would go to their own beds.  After weeks of this they began to jump off the bed before I even came into the room and I wondered how they knew.  One night it dawned on me that the very last thing I do before going to sleep is brush my teeth with the electric tooth brush.  They heard the electric tooth brush and went to their own beds. That's when I learned our dogs weren't mind readers.......although some times I still wonder about that.

LOL!  That's too funny.  :)

We use STOP for our girls, I found myself yelling that when they'd get too close to the street so on our walks I holler STOP as we approach the curbs, they are required to sit when they hear STOP before crossing the street.  Still a work in process but I've discovered it's not a word I use daily unless I anticipate danger for both dogs and kid!  I've even hollered at my daughter to stop it and we look over and the girls are sitting pretty! lol

Carolyn, Nancy, and Rosemary, thanks for the clarification.  I think I should start using the word "stay" when I put Cooper in for a nap.  I usually just say "go take your nap" and close the play pen.  I think I will use both so he will learn the word "stay", also to mean you're not going anywhere til I let you out! lol  I shall start practicing! :)

I do basically, the same as Nancy. WAIT, is for when we all exit or enter the door, and she must wait to be released to enter or leave ,as well. This way, no one is being knocked over by her exuberance. :p. Or WAIT, while open the back of the Jeep, and she is not allowed out until I give her release words of " All Done". STAY, is when she is in a sit-stay or down- stay.

I use "Wait" when I want the dogs to stop and freeze - I use this when I am going up and down the stairs in our house or walking out the door to the back yard.  I use stay for when I put them in a place and want them to stay there. Someone told me to use the different words for when you release from afar or when you go back to them and release, but It doesn't matter what words you use or how you might mean them differently than someone else, just that you mean for a command word to do a certain thing.
