Well I made it through the first 3 teacher mtg days. I'm already exhausted from all of the hours of preparation, all of the hours of sitting in mtgs, and from getting up early each day (I've had trouble giving up staying up late). Next week will be worse because my kids are schools of choice (attending the district I work in, instead of their home district). That means, I will need to leave to drive my high school aged son to school at 6:40. I'm not looking forward to that!
Hudson has been going to my mom's while I've been working. He has been playing with her German Shepherd puppy (who is HUGE). He comes home very exhausted. He is constantly with us when we are home, so like all of your doodles, he is sad when we go away.
Well, this will be the last long weekend that most of us will enjoy for awhile! Enjoy!

Went back to school today and my poor Roxie was following me all over when I got home even though both my husband and daughter were home today, I guess she noticed I was gone.

Since I have been back in school, and my daughter left for the college, dogs have been pretty lonely! They were spoiled all summer long with someone always being at home. After my daughter left, I have been coming home during the lunch hour as well.....

I completely understand what everyone is talking about, I start tomorrow and it's killing me knowing I have to get to bed within the hour. The students don't come back until the 7th, so tomorrow and the next day will be meetings and set-up. We are off Friday and Monday, in with the students Tuesday and Wednesday and off again on Thursday and Friday. So we are easing back into the start of the school year. Hopefully when we go full force on the 13th the weather will have broken!

Our year THIS year goes form the 7th (teachers only) kids the 8th... off thurs and friday... then back into full swing... the last day is usually around the 25th... depending on our snow days, we usually end on a thursday around the 25th and just go in to sign out on that friday....
I hear you about the cutbacks... In June we had to vote on what to do... the district was intending on firing 400 teachers - all around guidance, music thru' to classroom teachers... the union voted on a pay freeze AND a $900.00 cut... only to now find out the 'restored' funds from the state and hired back a lot of teachers. BUT at least our full health benefits are still available to us! Guess we really can't complain with so many people out of work and many who haven't gotten a raise in years! I know what you mean about day dreaming too! I HATE sitting in those meetings so anxious about what needs to be done... HEY! Maybe I'll go to school this year wearing a "ThunderShirt!" - seems to work for our doodles - LOL
Have fun tomorrow! It's still so hot here... in the low 90s... hopefully the hurricane passing by Friday - will bring cooler weather for OUR start next week!

Staying up late and sleeping in is one thing I really miss when I go back to work. For some reason rolling out of bed when you want or staying in PJs always feels more rewarding on a weekday when most people can't do it, doesn't it? It just doesn't feel the same way on a Saturday! Summer seems like such a short season here in MI, and I also really miss that the nice weather will soon be ending. I dread winter. Tomorrow and Thursday we have meetings all day. I'm sure a lot of people won't be paying attention, as they will be thinking of things they need to do in their rooms. We found out today that the district and union opened our contract and are asking us to make some cuts in salary and Rx benefits. Although nobody wants to take cuts, we've been pretty lucky so far, and the district can't pay out money it doesn't have. When does your school year end, Shelly? We get out on June 10th.

Same here! I've always been like this - even as a kid.. Have a good night! I'll think of you when I roll out of bed at 10 (or later).. don't work too hard! Just think your year will probably end before mine!!!
LOL

I'm in Michigan and it is the same time as you. I prefer to stay up late, and sleep in, but my normal work schedule doesn't allow that. It would be great if school started at 10:00 and still got out at 3:30 :) I do have to work tomorrow, but it is a low key, work in your room day, so I figured it wouldn't matter if I was a little tired..... I probably should call it a night though. :)

Guess we (us?) teachers have good stamina, and can handle whatever is thrown our way... hey - I don't know what time it is where you are, but it's 12:45 AM here and I'm still going... that Ever Ready Bunny has Nothin' on US!

"Sister Mary Underwear" LOL! That is really funny! I'm lucky to have a great principal who really respects us.

Lynda- that split schedule thing sounds crazy, and 30 K students is A LOT! I don't know how you did it with 36 Shelly! 25 is sounding like a good number now.
