I have to put in extra 20 days over the summer, and I had no time to put days in during June, because we got out soooo late. I always work for autistic summer camp during the month of July, so, there wer no time there either, Which means that I have to put all 20 days in August... Aggghhhh!!

When I retire, years and years from now, I am going to join the Peace Corp and get away from the politics!!!

Comment by shelly on August 12, 2010 at 1:17pm: Good for you Nancy... I know just what "things" you a re talking about - GO FOR IT! Good luck going back... I usuall start my week of mourning the week before Labor Day! (That's the holiday I like least!).. we go back the day after.

But this will be our last year before retiring so we are determined to enjoy this last year and sneak in some of the things we KNOW are good teaching practices but are out of favor right now. What are they going to do - fire us?????

Comment by Lynda Kamrath on August 11, 2010 at 9:24pm: Congrats, Deborah! We had a pajama party/breakfast yesterday morning for a newly retired teacher on the first day of school. Some schools started back yesterday. After the breakfast, I took the dogs to a new dog park in Santa Cruz and then ran errands all day getting ready for a yard sale and estate sale this weekend. I never run out of things to do. And for all of you who are headed back in the next few weeks, have a great start to another exciting year. Don't wish the days and years away, they are all special. But retirement is frosting on the cake!

And 2 kids to put through college and they won't be out for another 8 years - LOL Enjoy your forever weekends.. that's what I tell my parents they have now that they are both retired... :-)
