Murphy just loves his pool. Just learned how to take a running leap after a ball.

Yes, I agree. Will be doing more homemade and some EVO (grain free) now so I will have a better idea of what is working. Cutting back on the swimming would probably help too.

Alternating b/w dog food is uneeded, you might want to pick one and stick to it for any real results/symtoms/benefits to be seen. Cutting back on the swimming won't hurt.

The The T8 Keto is what the vet sold me. His ears are plucked well and often and I am just adding homemade dog food to his kibble. He's been on Wellness, Solid Gold and Evo up to now. I alternate each bag. Does fine on anything I give him so far, but I would like to get away from grains to see how his ears do. I really do think it;s the frequent swimming and wet ears and climate. But we can certainly curtail his swimming for awhile if need be.

I would also recommend using T8 Keto flush as your ear cleaner. I have posted many time on DK about the major problems I used to have with Kensi' ears. T8 Keto is by far the best I have found. You can find it online. Keep the ears plucked and changing Kensi' diet to a high quality dog food really helped as well. California Natural is a good one to try b/c it is specifically designed for dogs with possible allergies, skin and ear issues.

Just starting to see them around and so far Murphy hasn't paid any attention to them. Thanks for the reminder tho.

Yep, Otomax is a wonderful med. We use it a lot. Also use a hair dryer to help dry the ears out.
And keeping her hair short helps dry her fur and prevent mats.
Also, not knowing where you are in Fl. keep a watchful eye out for the buffo toads. They are deadly poisonous and my dood loves to hunt them. We have to keep an extra long muzzle on her for her own protection at night when the toads are out.

The ear infections are a real challenge especially in hot humid florida. He shakes his head quite often and has been on otomax 2ce within 6 weeks that we've been here. I am just starting to go to grain free foods to see if that helps too, but I'm sure the swimming is the culprit. Had him out of the water for 10 days and just let him back in on saturday so we'll see how his ears do now. I also use the meds after every swim, that the vet prescribed.

Sue,
We have not yet had problems with her skin. However, we do have to make sure her ears are very dry after she gets out. She had started to shake her head so we used the meds the vet gave us to prevent ear infections.
She would go in every day if permitted. When she was younger we had to block
off the pool to keep her out. Now she is beginning to understand No Pool!
Funny thing though, she hates to be hosed down but will jump to get wet when I use the hose. She also hates bath time, which is at least once a month, with no tears dog shampoo.

Sally, Have you had any problems with Mitzi's skin from the chlorine? We are just getting our 6 month old into the pool and he goes in everyday (all day if we'd let him). We were swimming in the ocean everyday and I'd rinse him off, but do you after she's in the pool?
