Yikes - Coyotes!

Posted on December 28, 2010 at 8:01am 21 Comments

Just when potty training was going so well... I'm scared to let our dogs out in the yard.  Yesterday (in broad daylight) my daughter came in the house screaming.  A coyote was running up and down our fence line.  Daisy (2 yr old doodle) was running up and down with it, but she was inside our fence.  I think she thought it was another dog.  After getting the kids in safely, we ran out to bring the dogs in.  Four more came out of the woods behind our house and just stood there.  The coyotes were… Continue

I read your suggestion for 'pokey mats' for counter surfing and wondered what exactly they're marketed for in the home improvement stores. Are they regular floor mats or something else? I'd like to give this idea a go, although lately Lucy doesn't seem all that interested in the countertops much these days (we're very diligent with keeping inticing articles off the counters). I could see how the pokey mats might be helpful if used on the floor, though, to keep Lucy away from areas we'd prefer she not go... assuming the pokey mats don't feel good to stand on, either.

Hi Kim!  Just wondering how the pups are doing.  Are they getting along better?  Are they surviving the FREEZING COLD?  What did Kalli think of all the snow??

Hope things are going well!

St Joe is not a big town - I wonder if I know your friends, wouldn'nt that be funny! I'm flying up there next Frid. for a very short trip - to help my daughter pack for her move to Atlanta. I'm sad to leave Rooney for 5 days!

That was a quiet moment!! He keeps trying to hump her!! She's still a little too small but he actually is enjoying her. She keeps biting and pulling at his tail. We'll see how long that lasts) Ben doesn't want to be near her. I'm trying to keep the "big" dog's schedule as normal as possible. I think this is going to exhaust me:) But it's worth it.

Yes, I am retired but substitute teach frequently. I have been retired for three years. I do special ed much of the time as subs are sometimes hard to get for Spec Ed. My last year, I taught third grade. Before that I was in 5th/6th and 5/6 Combo for fourteen years. It is great to be retired as there is no planning, correcting, grading, and conferences to dol When I walk out at the end of the day, my arms are empty. My father-in-law also loved to help me out when I was teaching and he made all my Math-Their-Way manipulatives for me and book shelves for the front of the class out of a single sheet of plywood. Everyone loved them so much, he ended up making them for the whole school. Retired parents are a God send.

Glad to be friends with you. THere are several of us now that have an older and a younger doodle. Daisy and Kalli are darling. It will be fun watching Kalli grow up on DoodleKisses. Our pup is five months old now and he has definitely added energy to our household. Are conferences over? Enjoy your Thanksgiving break.

Oh my goodness! Daisy is beautiful! I look forward to watching Kalli grow. Kona was not sure about Owen for a few days but now plays with him which is a welcome respite for the rest of the family. ;o)

How's it going with the new pup? Post some photos (as soon as you get those conferences over with). Relax, sit back, and enjoy life.

I'm sure Daisy will LOVE having a new little sister or brother. She will rise to the occasion and take care of the puppy for you. Don't worry. It will be great having a new puppy.
