- About Me:
- I am a high school English teacher at an all boys private school. I have taught there for five years. I graduated from Case Western Reserve University. This is our second goldendoodle. We have an 3 1/2 year old named Lacey and are getting her a sister in a few weeks named, Paisley.
- What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
- Lacey, is our soon to be Goldendoodle. She was born the second week of February. She came home at the seven week mark, March 29th. Lacey is our first doodle and is an F1 English Goldendoodle - parents McGyver (English Golden Retriever) and Holly (Cream Small Standard Poodle) . She is 85 lbs. and sheds a moderate amount.
Paisley is our second doodle. She will be coming home in a few weeks. She is an F1B goldendoodle. She has a curly apricot coat. Her mom is named Scout (goldendoodle) and dad is Waffles (standard poodle). She should mature to about 60 lbs but we will see. Lacey was predicted to be 45 so I take every prediction with a grain of salt!
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Breeder
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- We wanted a breed that was outgoing, loving and charismatic. We also wanted a dog that would be good with children (in the future) and that would by hypoallergenic. We know that some goldendoodles still bother people with allergies but we hope that the shedding will not be as bad as it currently is with my mom's dog. Also, it goes without saying, they are ridiculously cute :)
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- We love taking our doodle on walks, going to the park, and especially taking her pumpkin picking in the fall. All the kids at Patterson Fruit Farm love meeting Lacey. She does really well with kids and it is good for her. We love lounging around at home or romping around the yard. She loves wrestling and playing fetch.
- Does your doodle(s) shed?
- A little bit but nothing major
- Who grooms your doodle(s)?
- We brush regularly and the groomer does the cutting.

- Married

Since my last blog post, Lacey has gotten big, and I mean really big. I don't know when this happened. I guess we don't notice as much being with her every day but our friends and family were shocked when they saw her again on Easter. Some of them have only seen her pictures, while others met her the first weekend we brought her home (about three weeks ago.) On Friday, Lacey had her second vet appointment with Dr. Amy. This past Saturday marked the two week mark for how long Lacey has been home with us. It is safe to say, the honeymoon is over! Lacey is now 9 weeks and is just a hyper ball of fur. Don't get me wrong, we love her dearly. She has instantly become part of our family and we have so much fun with her. It is just a lot to get used to.

Well, after a 3 hour car ride, we made it out to Columbus way earlier than expected. Maybe the excitement made us try faster but it was a nice, and rather quick drive out. Eric drove while I graded papers in the front seat - it was a challenge but at least I got something done because since getting home, no grading has been done and lessons still need to be made for tomorrow - oh the life of a first year teacher.

Well, tomorrow is the day that we bring Lacey home. Time has gone so slow and we have been waiting so long for this day to come. We miss her like crazy since that first initial meeting and we cannot wait to see our little ball of fluff again.

Elsa weighs close to 20 lbs now at 18 weeks. The breeder said she would be between 40-50 lbs as an adult. Have fun visiting the puppies this weekend!

Thank you! *I think* the English doodles are more stockier compared to the regular/american ones and their coloring is different. I wanted an English mainly because of the cream color. We haven't done any socializing with other doodles (or any other dogs) yet because we just got done with her vaccinations. We are ready now!

It's so wierd that I saw your name & thought you were someone else. 2 Kristen Thomas' who are teachers. Lol. My sons teacher was Ms Thomas but I havent seen her lately & didnt think she had a doodle.
