I don't want to jinx things, but I feel like Zuzu's homecoming has been WAY too easy...She sleeps all night in her crate (and did from the first night home), goes into her crate on her own during the…Continue

So, I had an uncomfortable experience at the vet today with Rooney. I had to take him in unexpectedly because we had discovered a small lump on his flank and wanted to get it checked out. It turned…Continue

Rooney is now a year and a half. Overall, he's a great boy who is a wonderful family dog. He is responsive to training (although it's still a work in progress), gentle with family members, doesn't…Continue

The teenagers are home today.
Somehow that always puts me in mind of Paul Revere's Ride and want to shout, "The Teenagers are Coming! The Teenagers are Coming!" While generally they are pleasant lads... they do come with some baggage...mainly in the way of noisiness, large quantities of food consumption and messes.
Truthfully though, I enjoy having my kids home and actually look forward to their days off from school. I am as excited about the countdown to summer vacation as…

I did it.
I gave Rooney a haircut.
What on earth has come over me? Add this to the list of things that will surely be brought up at my Intervention. In 17 years of parenting I have never once entertained the idea of giving one of my children a haircut. Even when my daughter wasn't sporting more than 25 hairs on her head, I still took her to a professional. And, you may not have heard, but there are professionals available and willing to give your dog a haircut.…

Well, the neighborhood Crazy Puppy Lady is only getting crazier. At least, I'm pretty sure that's the word on the street.
It was a beautiful day today and I was perhaps feeling just a bit too spunky with my return to good health. This newfound zest for life gave me the ambitious idea to take Rooney down to the playfield near our house, with a long lead, to play a little fetch and do some some general running around. I figured he'd love the extra room to exercise his legs and the…

As stated in my previous blog post, I am crazy about my little Labradoodle, Rooney. And, as I also mentioned, this has come as a bit of a surprise to people who know me well. Not the fact that I like my puppy. I have always been a "Dog-Liker". It's the fact that I love my puppy and have not generally been known as a "Dog-Lover". But in fact, my deep affection for my Rooney has actually increased by interest and attachment to all dogs.…

Oops. I just reread your post and see that it was Spokane where you grew up. I lived in Spokane for several years before moving to California. I went to North Central High School. Where did you go to high school?
I also have an ALD. His name is Harpo and he is a real sweet puppy. Take a look at the photos on my page if you want to meet him. He is six years old.
If you grew up in Deer Park, you may know Sharon Merriman who is my breeder there. She has Designer Doodles. Also if you are moving back to Spokane this summer, you may actually see my puppy before I even do. So, do you know where Green Bluff is? That is where I grew up. Small world, isn't it.
Happy Birthday Lori! Hope your day is wonderful with lots of love, fun, celebrating and big Doodle kisses from Rooney:)
How's Mr. Rooney doing?
That is really funny! My oldest is starting 3rd grade, my middle is starting Kindergarten and my youngest just turned 2. My husband is a middle school teacher, so we completely enjoy our summers together! I LOVE your "puppy!" How do the two dogs get a long? We just found out our golden retriever has cancer this summer. We are hopeful to get another year with him.
Looking at Rooney's younger pictures, he looks a lot like Sawyer does! I am hopeful that Sawyer looks like Rooney when he gets bigger!!
My wife and I were born and raised in Salt Lake and you could say John is quite beloved in our hometown too. By the way, your doodle is gorgeous.
That is so funny that you asked. We joke that his full name is Stockton Malone Curtis. My wife and I are huge Jazz fans. I'm curious to know how you made that connection so quickly. I noticed that you are in Washington (Stockton's stomping grounds).
