Dogs bite

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 8:03am 18 Comments

Everything was fine at the beginning. 5 dogs were hanging around off-leash. One dog came to me and I petted him for a while. Then I continued speaking on the phone.  The dog was still siting by my side. Camus came to me from the other side and when he came close enough, the other dog snapped and at the same moment I raised my arm and it was right between Camus and the other dog, so the dog bit my arm instead of Camus. The diameter of the wound is not big , but it is pretty deep and there was…

Camus and a coyote

Posted on April 22, 2012 at 11:20am 14 Comments

One early morning Camus met a coyote...and invited him/her to play. 8-0

It was still dark and when an animal ran across a big grassy area I thought it was a dog, but there was no human around. Camus ran after the animal wagging his tail. When a coyote stopped, Camus made a bow and invited him to play. The coyote stopped intrigued and stared at Camus until I grabbed my pup and walked away. I was the only one who got scared, I guess. Silly, silly and friendly Camus!

Camus and his new house

Posted on November 27, 2011 at 8:24pm 11 Comments

The house is painted! Camus helped me a lot with his tail and paws, he just painted wrong things. Although we were very busy, we went to the dog beach for 4 days in a row.

Camus is crazy about the ocean. Now it's a problem to walk on beaches where the dogs are not allowed off-leash. Camus pulls to the water all the time.

Another thing, we discovered and don't know how to deal with it. Camus poops in the ocean. :( He sits where the water comes to his hips and... I feel very…

Camus playing "Doctor".

Posted on November 13, 2011 at 4:57pm 7 Comments

Camus chewed off his stitches the next day after the neutering surgery. The vet had to put him to sleep and sew him again. Other than that Camus looked happy.

The nurse said: "if your dog doesn't eat very well or don't eat at all, don't worry. It's normal". Camus eat full bowl of food right after coming home.

The day before surgery we moved to a new house. Painting the house with a puppy like Camus is not easy. Now, not only the house is painted but also the Camus's…

I posted that I thought you should try to work things out, but I have been thinking about you and Camus all morning.  You wouldn't have posted if you weren't at your wit's end and I wasn't supportive.  I apologize.

If this helps, here is a link to the DRC rescue.

Wow, 32 lbs. at 16 weeks. Camus is quickly catching up with Zeus. He's now 54 lbs. at 27 weeks. I'll be checking Camus' stats periodically. Puppy growth has become so intriguing to me. :O)

Thanks for the tip!  I can't add any more dogs right now since I already have three, but some day.  When I get another big dog, I'm also considering a Giant Schnoodle (half giant schnauzer/half standard poodle) since both parents are non-shedding.  I was also advised F1B GD was the way to go for allergies.  I thought I didn't like poodles, but after having one found I loved them.

Glad that your dog allergies are doing better.  Oh, I wish my allergies were gone, but just the welts from my standard poodle went away. I love all animals, but am allergic to every one of them except hypo-allergenic dogs. I'm soooo thankful I can have these wonderful dogs though -- one poodle and two schnauzers. This is why I became interested in doodles. I can go to the romps and love them all. Good luck!

Camus is adorable!  I am so sorry about your allergies.  I am allergic to just about everything on Earth so I understand your frustration. Some things to consider: did the house the puppy came from have any other pets such as a cat or shedding dog? I can't touch a neighborhood poodle because of the cat he lives with. Second, I bought a standard poodle years ago because my son wanted a dog and they are non-shedding.  The first two months we had her every time I touched her my arms broke out in itchy welts for hours.  I was sad that I wouldn't be able to pet her, but happy I could still breathe okay.  Two months later it just stopped and I never had a problem again so give it a little time.  The last person had a good idea to wipe your dog down every night.  If my dog rolls in the grass, I get asthma when she comes in the house.  If I take my dogs to the dog park, I wipe my dogs down with a wet towel before they come in the house because of other dog dander they were picking up.  My vet also recommended wiping the dogs down every night for their health as well.  One dog gets very itchy this time of year and he said that really helps lots of dog with itching.  Good luck!  I hope it all works out!
