Willow's favorite indoor game is hiding her ball under our coffee table. She'll nose it under there, then lay on her side and swipe at it with her feet until it rolls out and runs to that side and…Continue

Willow had an anal gland problem this morning (thanks to my searching on DK i knew it was her glands). I called the vet's and they told me to bring her in later in the afternoon. When I was…Continue

Hello All,Yesterday we took the dogs out and stopped at a frozen lake to play fetch. Willow found an old, dry cattail and before I noticed, chewed on it. It burst into a bunch of fly-aways (seed?). I…Continue

Why not? You speak your mind and don't mince words. I like that! Besides, I could probably use someone like you around to rein me in; I'm not a very nice person - at least that's what my husband tells me. :0)
Yes, Betsy is a member of DK but very seldom here. She is so busy in Alaska. Her wonderful doodle is named Blossom and they are out hiking and photographing every day. She has another dog, named Rio, who is a blind Rio Brasilero. She is a nurse in Anchorage and travels all the time. Do you go on Facebook? She is also on FB almost every day and she loves to share her photos.
How far are you from Anchorage? There is a fantastic doodle owner and photographer who lives in Anchorage. Her name is Betsy and I love, love, love her photography of her many adventures in Alaska. Do you happen to know her?
Hey Sarah, just checking in. How's Willow doing. Lola seems to be pretty much back to her normal self (and by that I mean running around the house like a crazy dog because of pent up energy from not being able to get out and play)...
Thanks so much for responding. Your way of life is just so 'foreign' to us that we are fascinated. I am such a 'city' girl that I have no survival skill knowledge that I am sure you take as a matter of course. For example, our idea of an emergency car kit is having water (it gets hot here in the summer). We determine how long it takes to get somewhere by traffic delays. We most often don't grab a jacket for short trips even if it is raining or cold (ha to our idea of cold though). Both series of books we are reading are set in rural areas like yours with nature's beauty all around. We watch all the specials about Alaska from learning about grizzlies, climbing, and even the show Buying Alaska about buying homes there. A visit to Alaska is on our bucket list.
My husband and I are reading two fictional murder mysteries series based in Alaska which has really expanded our knowledge (which was pretty limited to begin with) of Alaskan geography, weather, and basic culture of the northwest. We are both southern California large town dwellers, who only 'visit' snow. Our idea of 'real cold' are nights that have a freeze. Have you always lived in Alaska? If not, was it hard to adjust to the difference? Let me know when you get more pictures posted.
-42 YIKES !!! If we were having a DK who has the coldest weather contest, I'd say you just won, hands down ! Stay bundled.... better yet stay inside !
