- Marabelle, aka: Mare Bear, Standard Goldendoodle, female Born 10-23-12
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Rescue, Rehome
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- I didn't start out with any intention of getting a Goldendoodle, but did know what they were from a few years back when I first ever saw one. I did do a bit of research on them, and knew it would be a great dog to have...but that was as far as it went. After our wonderful German Shepherd of 13 years passed away in 2009, we just couldn't bring ourselves to get another pup right away. Of course after being dog-less for almost four years I started looking at dogs that needed a home, I knew I wanted a rescue dog. I accidentally came across our Goldendoodle while searching Craigslist for a friend's lost dog. Her foster mom was only five minutes away, so I went to meet her...I knew right away she was our dog. So that is how I have become a doodle owner.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- So far loving walks, and sitting outside in the evenings watching the sunset. We have a camper and are hoping she will love traveling with us. Update: Marabelle has been camping twice with us, went kayaking and her first swim in water. She did great on the kayak. She has her own camping cot and stays on it while sitting around the fire. Met deer, turkeys and an armadillo...the leave command works well and she just watches them.
