Hi all,Ok, so after a ton of back-and-forth e-mails with a cottage owner, we secured a cottage rental for a week in August! Their policy is "no dogs" (hence all the e-mails), but we were able to talk…Continue

Hey everyone,I was scratching Lola's bum earlier and felt a bump. Of course I had to pick at it, and now it's bleeding. I've found a couple others in her upper leg/back area, and they all look about…Continue

As much fun as vacations can be, there is no place like home!!!! Being away from my Lola for 2 weeks proved to be quite unbearable...even with the skyping and photo e-mailing my sister did (she was her sitter). New Orleans is an absolutely beautiful city with a great history and even better people. I experienced more in 2 weeks there than I have in a whole year in my own boring city. The people there really open up your eyes to…

So we're off to cruise the western caribbean tomorrow morning (cross your fingers for these hurricanes/tropical storms to go away! Good luck to those of you in Texas!), and we're leaving Lola with my parents (as we always do when we go away!). I miss her already, and she's sitting right next to me!! I know she'll have a blast with Saba (my parents' hound mix), and my entire family adores her and showers her with love and kisses, but it's still sad to say bye for a week!!!
Have a great…

Thanks, Sue, I appreciate that you took the time to try to help.
Thanks, Sue. I am familiar with the disease, it's very common in GSDs. In fact, 70% of all cases are German Shepherds, and another 20% are Collies, it's mainly the herding dogs that get it for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure that's not Jack's problem, but I'm going to read more about it. I really appreciate your taking the time to give me this info! Thank you!
Hi Sue, thanks for this idea! Could you possibly find out what enzyme it was?
I am not sure that my vet has much experience with any of this. Not unusual, because most general practice vets don't get any nutritional training, but it's frustrating and scary to be spending all this time and money and still not have an answer.
Thanks for any additional info you might have, and also for the good wishes!
Hey Sue! I think I may hava left you a comment some time ago when I first saw you were from London. Yes we are under the tornado warning too. Boy it's the last thing that the poor people in Goderich need! We go through Goderich on HWY 21 every weekend on the way back and forth to our cottage on the Bruce Peninsula. Luckily we had other plans for last weekend as there is a good chance we would have been travelling through there when it hit. You and Lola stay safe now.
