Last Wednesday we were told to “brace ourselves” for snow accumulations ranging anywhere from 12-15 inches. I tried to resist, but finally succumbed to the grocery store madness, and ran out that afternoon to grab a few items “just in case.”

As I hung up my coat and unpacked my “goodies” I went through a mental check list to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything I needed to do. Nope! Couldn’t think of a thing.

Dee and I met in church. Over the years we’ve had occasional telephone calls, stolen moments between services, and random infrequent emails.

When I started blogging Dee was one of our first subscribers outside of my immediate family. She is a very busy lady; Minister, Grad Student, Professional Career, etc… To know that she was actively engaged in my blog posts humbled me. She took the time to keep up with our stories!

The other day I wrote on my FB page: “I love God, my husband, my family (two and four legs), and Charleston, SC.” I am obsessed with that place, can’t get enough, have always wanted to live there, and for many reasons:

• DH was born and raised there
• His family still resides there
• DD went to college there
• I love the climate, it’s people, cuisine, culture, and rich heritage….

While the rest of the world prepared for the “most watched” sports event on television, DH, The Boys, and I were headed to warmer weather. I was so ready for a break from the snow.

As soon as we reached our destination and got out of the car, Harley pranced around like he owned the neighborhood……

Today I want to tell you a story. A story about a soldier and his dog. A story about Henry, his puppy Maximus, and of course The Boys.

Meet Henry. An Army Non-Commissioned Officer assigned to an EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Unit, and his (then) 6 or 8 week old partner in crime “Max” or as Henry insists I use his full name: Maximus! A Brindle Pit/Lab rescue mix……

I explained to Harley that the Valentine Treats from The Honest Kitchen were for Valentine’s Day! He of course won me over with “the look” and he’s been enjoying them for the past three days…. The teeny tiny little heart shaped treats are made with just 1 ingredient, “Dehydrated Haddock” -…

Again, I’ve had very little to do with Harley’s follow up story, short of lending my keyboard to a doodle…
