Jess inquired about my blogging. “ I hope you have expressed how grateful I am to everyone for their prayers and thinking of me.”
He truly is deeply touched. A sincere “thank you” from the bottom of his heart. He really wanted to make sure I expressed this. He is so overwhelmed by DKers who have jumped in and carried lights for our journey.
I thought today was filled with lots of promising accomplishments. This morning Jess had his chest tubes removed. The wires that were sewn…

The Spring Training has really reminded me how important it is to teach my doggies tricks! Rusty and Lucy have both been through obedience and I guess I just got so focused on sit, down, heel, stay, etc. that I forgot the FUN of expanding that foundation of learning into the fun tricks!
So, today I got back on the
Dogtrickacademy site and taught Rusty how to shake in about 10 minutes. How fun is that! He's so proud of himself. I'm gonna…

Spring is in the air & doodles are hitting the road. Took Doodle #1 and Doodle #2 up to Seattle to visit some old friends & deal with the vagaries of life (le sigh).
Oski was a happy pooch & got to play with his old buddies from Seattle. Yes, these dogs are not only supersmart and goofy, they also have great memories & keep a soft gooey spot in their hearts for their puppyhood buddies. BFF!! They went berserk as soon…

I was very nervous about Willy getting groomed yesterday but, I really think she did a great job, I will have to take more pictures of him. He likes the hairstyle, yesterday I took him to his friends houses to show him off, he was as proud as ever in fact when he went for puppy playtime He was High Stepping his front legs too show off, it was awesome, I did take lots of pictures of his before cut so I would have them, his coat is soo soft, and rather fluffy, sort of like a shag rug, and the…

O.K., I’ve been busted.
I did not blog last night. Susan caught me.
Susan and I had the opportunity to meet yesterday at Mayo. Like several of you, we have exchanged messages, and I learned that Susan’s Ron was waiting for a Mayo kidney. I had a strong feeling we would meet there, but Ron did not think his kidney would come during Jess’s stay.
Was it 24 hours later that the kidney arrived with Ron’s name on it? True story, I make up very little these days.
The transplant was…

Lila is a big fluffy ball of fun. She plays with us all the time and can fetch, which is very exciting.

Yesterday, my Fozzy Bear turned 5 months old. And I wasn't there to celebrate with him. Nope, he was cuddling up with someone else. You see, back in the fall, when we planned on rescuing an older doodle, we figured (ok, I figured) it would take 6 months to a year to find a match. So I booked a flight for me and the boys to go visiting our family and friends over spring break. I had no idea we would rescue a newborn. So, here I am, in Phoenix, singing…

I am currently fostering an eight month old male lab puppy because he showed up on my back porch during a thunderstorm. The next day my friend saved him from "swimming with the alligators" by putting him in my courtyard. Amazingly, he was microchipped. Unfortunately, the registered owner denied he is her dog. He will get a better home.
I have been working with him, training him to sit, down, walk on a leash in hopes that he will be more adoptable. He seems very eager to learn, but he…

Finally a bright & sunny semi-warm day of
Spring here in Walla Walla so we took the dogs to the dog park (haven't been in months) to meet up with some friends. Everything was going fabulously, all the dogs getting along, lots of playing, cute doggies, etc.
I'm used to bracing as dogs run by...bending my knees preparing to be run into...no big deal.
But this time my friend's great dane, Zorro, had found himself an equal...another great dane of similar size and…

So we're making a little progress with the playing. Fenway has learned to not be so rough and Dustin has learned to be a little more rough. He likes to baricade himself under the couch, behind the bar stools, or behind my legs and lunge at Fenway with his razor sharp teeth and big paws. It's completely hilarious because Fenway used to do this when she was a puppy and some of her bigger friends would come over to play. Lee called it her gorilla attack so evidently she's getting payed back big…

"And God Created the Dog"
On the first day of creation,
God created the dog.
On the second day of creation,
God created man to serve the dog.
On the third day,
God created all the animals of the earth to serve
as potential food for the dog.
On the fourth day,
God created honest toil so that man could labour
for the good of the dog.
On the fifth day,
God created the tennis ball so that the dog might
or…

All the little flags have been placed in the yard as yesterday they installed the invisible fence. Now it is training time. The installer, Brian felt that Cali will do very well with the new containment in the yard. However, her biggest challenge will be Lucy, the lab puppy who lives behind us. Cali likes to visit her, so this training will probably be the most difficult as Cali will need to learn she can not just run over there anymore. We will still have to have play dates as they are the…

Well, little Pongo Doodle is now 11 weeks old and has doubled his weight in three weeks! When we got him three weeks ago he weighed three and a half pounds... today he weighs seven and a half!! Must say I'm quite surprised he's doubled his weight but also pleased because it shows he's nice and healthy. Just come back from the Vets where he had his second vaccination... he was a very brave boy!

Jess had another productive day while I was at work. He called me to report he took TWO laps around the nurses’ station! I learned later that he took another one in the afternoon. His brother reported that it wiped him out, so he was headed for nap time.
One of the heart doctors came in and told Jess he was doing well enough to leave CCU! It must be a good day for critical care, as there are five patients also ready to move upstairs. (As I type this they’ve finally got a room for him…

Well we brought the new baby boy home today and it has been very interesting to say the least. First of all let me just say that Dustin is cute as a button and fat as a manatee! He has got to be the biggest puppy ever! When we got home we took him straight to his designated potty spot while my DH went to get our baby girl. We then went to a neutral spot and let them meet. Fenway was super duper excited so we kept her on a leash and did not let her go…

I know many of you have read The Klein's blog and are following Jess' recovery. It is indeed a miracle! My husband and I received one of the miraclous gifts from Mayo Clinic in Phoenix as well, yesterday. Ron has been on kidney dialysis for 3 years and on the kidney transplant list for 4 years. Yesterday morning at 8:30 the phone call came that we had been waiting so long for. "This is Mayo Clinic calling and we have a kidney for Ron. Please call us asap." Ron looked at me and the expression on…
