What was I thinking????

Well, several days ago I finally, with much self talk and encouragement from DK got up the courage to try giving Tara a scissor cut. What I had not factored in accurately was Tara's tolerance level for being "messed with" and my excruciatingly slow methodology. Bad combo!

So here we are 4 days later. The first day I was able to get the top of her head cut. That was IT! Next day, under ears and down to collar level. Done. Third day I worked down her back about 1/3 of the way…

We conquered the "Rollover"!! Yipee!

Tara and I have been practicing the rollover trick for the past few weeks. We are learning tricks from the "101 Dog Tricks" book and this one seemed pretty basic and easy. We started by learning the roll part which got her flat on her side. She caught on to that fairly quickly but then we got stuck at that point. The little legs just didn't want to go over. A BREAKTHROUGH AND A HUGE THANK YOU!!

Tara has been, from the beginning, a very sensitive girl when it comes to grooming. I started brushing her when she was tiny but it never went well. She squirmed and fought me and I had to play her into exhaustion so I could brush her after she fell asleep. We were both miserable and I kept thinking about how many years ahead we were facing as this issue loomed over us. Even after she started visiting the groomer it didn't improve. But at least I wasn't laying awake at night in tears…
