I'm happy for fall. Fergie and Lucy are back to school and I love it. Lucy started "pre-novice" and she has just tons to learn. #1 being self-control. She just hasn't learned how to move her body yet. She really looks like a crazy cartoon character. Fergie started Novice and doing great. This is the class she should be in. Lesson to learn if you don't like a class you take, do it and finish it for practice and move on. Go to more classes and you'll find a place you like. This teacher realized…

As most of you know, I walk both my GIRLS a lot on a county trail by me -- both always off leash. It's a 1 1/2 mile stretch with no roads to worry about. Anyway today they had the most self-control ever!
Picture this --
3 gorgeous fit men came jogging past for there morning run. I said "girls - stay". They sat and watched as these three young men ran on there way. NOW I HAD A MUCH HARDER TIME but my heart wouldn't have taken the run. LOL-LOL.
Also, a lady passed with two…

No luck. Yep Fergie did do great but I didn't want her to. Today our big lesson was getting her to come to you when you're out of site. I personally think 8 wk old pups will do that most of the time. We did do a little bit of agility work (10 minutes) which she hadn't done and was somewhat fun but I can't follow through with that because she wouldn't be able to compete for quite a few years (She's a dood and not fixed) so I'm not interested in that either. OH well, I'm going to buy that Dog…

I took Fergie to a new teacher - one who has come highly recommended from numerous people. Anyway, we went for our first intermediate obedience class. I told her that she had already passed "pre-novice" classes, and has passed both her CGC and her TDI tests. I want to teach her some fun stuff that we could use in our Therapy visits.
Our first class we started out with sit. We moved on to stay - stay for 30 seconds. I told her she'd stay long enough for me to drink a couple of beers -…

Now I was out in the yard trying to fix my plants. When what do I see - Fergie running through the yard with a squirrel in her mouth. OMG! that could be bad I think - squirrels are tough and mean. Fergie is just a sweetie. Thank god for the training I've done with her. I immediately yelled "leave it" and she dropped it immediately and came to me. As the squirrel ran away I could see the tip of its tail hanging by a thread. I think that squirrel won't visit this yard anymore.

I've been nursing all these impatients thru all the bad weather this spring. I just went out and Lucy dug up half of them. She's a mess and half the flowers are gone. DAM. I guess it's time to replant. Oh great. Now she wants to come in the house with those dirty feet. That's why they make puppies so cute or you'd kill them.

Some of you might remember Rudy - the poodle I almost kept. Anyway this is fun to see. Look at him now - before and after grooming. Incidently, he's doing just great and his family adores him.…

I have to just tell you how nice it is to have my second doodle - as fisty as she is - even with my sleepless nights. The weather is getting nicer outside in WI and the sun comes up outside my kitchen window. Every morning I feed the doods and put them outside and check doodlekisses. I can see them as I sit at my computer. Every morning they take their nap all snuggled together in the grass with the sun coming up behind them. I'd post another pic but I think you've seen so many. It's just so…

This is a funny thing. Lizzy came over because she was in season and there is males at her house. We don't want any accidents. This caused Fergie to come in also (1 1/2 months early). Now I know females will cycle together and this really didn't surprise me. But what did was - I'm 52 yrs old (get it.) I haven't had my period for 7-8 months. I also got my period! Now that p***** me off.

Lizzy's been with us for two weeks and going home today. We'll all miss her but she doesn't live far. We'll see her soon.

Just want to let everyone know Fergie passed her CGC test with flying colors. Actually, that is a pretty easy test. Most dogs that are anywhere near social should pass it easy.

It's nice out in Wisconsin so the three of us ventured out for a long walk. Fergie and Little Lucy are happy to have a friend, Lazy Lizzy, stay with us for a couple weeks. But we are very tired.

I wish you could see what she is doing. If I go outside to video, I know they will stop. Little Lucy is on a long cable tied outside. Fergie has run of the whole yard since we have an inv. fence and she knows her boundaries. She is so cute. She stays just in the boundaries that Lucy is able to go to. Lucy is chasing her and she is chasing Lucy. The cutest thing is Lucy never has to go to the end of her leash. They are just bee-bopping around out there like nuts. This is probably why Lucy at 9…

I saw the above post and loved it. I know this has nothing to do with doodles but I just thought I'd add Springtime in Amsterdam taken by my daughter while studying abroad last spring. This will make all Midwesterners longing for a warmer springtime --…

Fergie and I had our first walk on our country trail by the house. It's got 1 1/2 mile stretch with no roads and at this time of year not any other people either. No leash necessary. It was so nice even though it was cold outside. It was fun to watch Lucy (8 wks) chase her older sister. We went about 3/4 mile total. I worked on teaching Lucy to come when called and sit in front of me. She was very hungry and I fed her her kibble as we walked. This worked really good. She's already coming to me…

Fergie and I went to our 4th obedience class today. She is 13 months but we've never gone to obedience, I've just done a lot of reading and bought a few video's. I think Fergie is doing great. The teacher snuck over to me and whispered in my ear that I've got a "wonder dog". She just loves her (Not as much as me). I just want to encourage anyone who has a doodle to take them to class. It's so much fun because they respond so well. She loves it. We certainly are going to go further with these…

After a long weekend and a lot of travel Puppy #2 is finally home.
OK her name was going to be Lilly but then last week I saw the neighbor lady (she lives right next door) after a long cold winter and she just got a new puppy and named it Lilly! Goodness. Back to square one. So, I brought her home and took puppy #2 to a little bar by my house and all my friends named her LUCY. OK, so it's Lucy. I know there are a lot of Lucy's but I do like it. Fergie is having a good time with…

It's spring in Wisconsin. It was 71 degrees yesterday and the ground is still froze. The sump pump is pumping all over and making a mess. Fergie thought was great fun. Good Morning to all.…

Today Fergie and I had our second basic obedience class. I've done good with her at home on my own but we want to take the Canine Good Citizen test in mid-May so I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and that she could behave in a room full of strange dogs. She's doing wonderfully. The instructor said she'll breeze right through that test. I like this obedience thing - I may go on with a lot more of it. What I need to know and I'll ask next week but when they have the obedience…
