This quote could easily be considered the perfect narrative of “Harley” and a little old “imaginary” man I call “Oliver.” For years we’ve said “Harley was a little old man who got in the wrong line up in heaven!” His antics can make you scratch your head in…

When I find something that works, I must share...
Harley and Leo are a challenge with “collars.” It’s not because they’re abusive with them, it’s because of their long hair. So many collars out there…

Last week our daughter boarded the train for an excursion to the “Big Apple.” She loves to travel and generally EVERY mini-vaca for her is like a box of Cracker Jacks - there is going to be some sort of surprise inside... she is a magnet for “serendipitous” adventures!…

I don’t know about the weather in your region, but here on the East Coast, tulips and pansies are out in full bloom, the dogwood trees have buds on them, and the grass is finally green! it’s a beautiful thing to see I say….
For my boys though, spring is like a traffic light stuck on “green” for GO-GO-GO to the backyard for ton’s of fun. I really do not let them out much in the backyard during the winter months (unless there’s snow) because it stays very…

This “heart warming” story just HAD to be shared. Dogs – be they doodles or not – can truly impact our lives in so many ways….
Enjoy
A lot of us are so dependent on our dogs we’d list them right up there with oxygen.
For Alida Knobloch, her dog is oxygen.
The three-year-old Georgia girl, who has a…

A few years ago at Home Depot, I met “Alex.” He was just a “little thing”, and when I tried to speak to him – he seemed afraid. I guess my “bark” was worse than I thought!
I would see him around from time to time but he never really got that close to me. He always managed to keep his distance. His mom liked me – but not…

This week I would love to listen to you!
I’m asking to hear your “stories” and “woe’s” about the crazy weather in your region and how – if any – your dog is affected.
Living on the East Coast we typically would have already experienced at least one strong snowstorm, a few…

Go get a glass of SOMETHING and raise it high - CELEBRATE! The humans "won" one this weekend - YEA!
Some of you might remember the “lightening…

Monday morning I called the vet and spoke to Jamie (one of our favorite technicians). She said we could come in at 11:15. My daughter insisted on coming … But since this was Leo’s “adventure”, let’s have HIM tell you about it… (please read along in Leo’s voice) So we get there, and it’s all I can do to stand up after hopping in and out of the back of the car. Could they not have gotten a ramp or something? We get in the examining room, and Harley tells me to lay down and look “lame”…

It’s Sunday morning and we’re headed to church – I stop by my daughters room and ask her to “feed the boys” for me. It is way too early for them to eat and if I fix it and leave, they won’t touch it!
A mere 90 minutes later, all my plans for the rest of the day go right out the window…. Instead I am playing stay at home vet nurse to Leo.
Please – read on…
When we arrive home from church, we find the boys and Tiffany sitting in the foyer on the floor looking like…

How many of you remember that classic “Sammy Davis, Jr.” song THE CANDY MAN?
If you do, you know that it has a very catchy tune and happy lyrics … (come on sing along….)
Who can take a sunrise (who can take a sunrise)
Sprinkle it with dew (sprinkle it with dew)
Cover it with choc’late and a miracle or two
The Candy Man (the Candy Man)
Oh, the Candy Man can (the Candy Man can)
The Candy Man…

Love those Monday holidays. On Sunday nights though, I usually pack "way too much" enthusiasm into them. I try to stay up much later than normal, consume more junk food than I should as I flip channels and curse the television networks for putting absolutely NOTHING worthwhile on TV. I mean “come-on”, with most of…

Harley EATS grass!
Harley ENJOYS eating grass!
Harley EATS grass REGULARLY!
I don’t know about you, but I remember being told that “dogs eat grass because they’re ill, and it makes them vomit, then they feel better.” Never made much sense to me, but then I didn’t own a dog back then either.
Harley comes along, and somewhere between his second summer season and Leo’s arrival in the fall, he…

When your child starts school – especially pre-school, or kindergarten, you “live” to hear the teacher tell you that little Jason “really knows his colors” or Samantha “can count all the way to 10!” This will go on until your child is able to articulate their own activities, adventures, pitfalls, and whether or not they ate their lunch.
Believe it or not, if you take a four legged child to “doggie daycare” you secretly want to know pretty much the…

I should have known something was “up” when I saw Leo and Harley talking in the living room on Saturday…..
Who knew this weekend, as most of America was gearing up for “Super Bowl XLVI”, the boys were gearing up for the …
So as I watched “Manning” and those…

The boys are STILL going to camp! I know, I know, I remember my original plan, and I remember what I said: “once Leo becomes a year old, we will probably stop”, then after his birthday, I said “I’ll probably wait until Leo’s closer to two years old, and then leave them home more.”…

WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
My other sock is GONE! And I mean gone FOREVER!!
My family doesn’t believe me (this always happens), but I know what I saw. You be the judge, here’s my story and I’m sticking to it:
Harley has grown up creating “odd” toys to amuse himself with. He has always loved to “snatch” the warm dryer sheets out of the dryer as I fold clothes and take them to his area and tear them to…

Right around “quitting time” Friday afternoon, folks in my area were racing to the grocery store for what “they believed” to be the first of many “wintery mixes” of the season. Forecasters touted most of the day that we would be hit with freezing rain late Friday night ending sometime midday Saturday. Just like “everybody else” I too, grabbed my shopping cart and scooted through the aisles of my local supermarket for those “feel good” foods you rarely get to eat (let alone cook) on Saturday…

As Harley promised in "his" blog - “A Night With The Stars”, I'm blogging to share our family's heartfelt "holiday DC tour." Even though we live in the area, even though it was 39 degrees outside, even though this was the birthday of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the place would be PACKED - we…
