I came home last night from my 6 day vacation. Duncan was thrilled to see me.

Duncan had spent the first 3 days at my sister-in-law's house where he scarfed down his "cousin" Casey's wet food at every meal. (he usually eats only dry kibble which he didn't touch) so this might have been where everything began...day 4 he spent with my friend and her dog and that seemed a bit better although he wouldn't eat much of his kibble... but days 5 and 6 he got real mopey ate nothing and started to… Continue

AHHHH I'm going away next week for 6 whole days and don't know how i'm going to handle being without my Duncan Doodle!!!
I might need to buy a stuffed one to take with me. =) I know he will be in good hands but I will be a mess.

I emailed the breeder that I got Duncan from on his 1st birthday to give her an update and send my holiday card. She asked if I could send his pics to the "guardian momma" of his mom Maggie.

Well today, Duncan's momma's "momma" emailed me and told me the story of his litter.

Apparently there were 5 total but 2 weeks early 2 pups were miscarried leaving only 3 and then a week later she had the remaining three but they lost another that day leaving only 2, Duncan and his brother. I was… Continue

Today is Duncan's first birthday...he suffered through wearing a hat for me just long enough to snap a few pics. And as a reward he got some baked treats from the Beggin Dog Bakery here in my neighborhood. I let him have the 2 smaller treats today and we're going to save the Happy Birthday bone for tomorrow night to keep him busy while we're feasting on our Christmas Eve dinner.

Well, I am so excited that today Duncan went to the groomer and had no knots (matts)! So we kept his coat long but I promised to keep vigilant with the brushing and if i notice any matting happening i'll bring him back before it got bad.

He'll be a year old in 3 weeks so maybe most of the puppy coat is out now. I brush him daily and use a fine tooth comb as well and focus on his ears and tail as they tend to get the worst. But what a joy to have a nice soft fluffball curled up next to me… Continue

I am thankful for this fuzzy muppet that entered my life this year. He has made me laugh more than i could ever imagine, given me unconditional love when i needed it most and given me reason to get outside more and to make some great new friends at the dog park and online too! He is my family! And he is pretty darn cute:)

I got a good laugh tonight when i got home. Today was one of the days i had to work in the city all day and Duncan was home with a 12:30 walk and a 4:30 walk from his wonderful dog walker. She always leaves me nice detailed notes about their walk and what "came out" and how he loved to chase the blowing leaves etc. etc.

I am just thinking about how much Duncan has grown. Not necessarily in size as he is a mini but in his training and behavior. I remember not even being able to get him to sit still enough for me to leash him up to go potty. Now he sits without me even having to ask.

I am looking forward to many years of joy with this doodle but the last 8 months since I brought him home have truly been amazing. A bond I never knew was possible.
